CSDS surveys are an invaluable source of voter attitudes and information, used by scholars across disciplines. Sanjay Kumar has made both material and intellectual contributions to the understanding of Indian elections. Questions about his honesty and integrity are unwarranted

I've known Sanjay Kumar for 2 decades -- know him to be honest and insightful. CSDS has been at the forefront of social science scholarship for decades. Yes, a big mistake, but he owned up to it. It shouldn't undo the decades of incredible work Sanjay and CSDS have produced.

The 44th Chess Olympiad just concluded in Chennai, with Indian teams winning bronze medals in the open and women categories. However, the real victory was of the organizers who pulled off this mega event in less than 6 months notice as opposed to the usual prep time of 1.5 years

Thanks @cage_warwick! Holding simultaneous elections is an important policy proposal of the current govt. Our work is only a first step towards understanding its full consequences. We are presenting it tomorrow at the SERI (seri-india.org) Annual Workshop at 7 PM (IST).

A fascinating discussion between two prominent environmental economists about pedagogy and research in environmental economics, why discussion of optimal population is a taboo in academia and ways of mainstreaming environmental concerns in economic models and thinking.

I agree imp of writing in econ phd is not emphasized as much. But sad to see real analysis getting a bad rep. Yes, I have not used it either post phd, but it taught me about logic and how to make arguments and take them to their logical conclusion, an invaluable skill.

Random and wild idea: once paper is submitted to journal, editor schedules a zoom presentation by the author. Referees (chosen by the editor) log in anonymously and participate only via chat (or via a third party).

Thanks Mushfiq for your support. Means a lot. Yes, it was a considered and collective decision by both of us. Hope it generates a discussion to make the electoral system more robust.
