Import from Wix

Last reviewed on May 7, 2026

You can import your Wix site to WordPress.com to bring over your pages, images, menus, and site title. This guide walks through importing your Wix content, picking a theme, reviewing what transferred, and connecting your domain.

Step 1: Choose your site

To import your Wix content to a WordPress.com site, take the following steps:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard (or create a new WordPress.com site if you do not yet have one).
  2. On the left side, navigate to Tools → Import.
  3. Look for the Wix option and click the “Run importer” link:
The Wix importer is highlighted under Tools > Import in the WordPress dashboard.
  1. Enter the URL of your Wix site in the box, then click the “Check my site” button to begin the import.
  2. A progress bar shows the import’s status. You can leave this page; the import continues in the background, and you’ll receive an email when it’s complete.

If multiple authors are detected on your Wix site, you will be presented with an option to assign each author’s content to the equivalent users on your WordPress site. Otherwise, your Wix content will be automatically assigned to your WordPress.com account user.

Step 2: Pick a theme

After you submit your Wix site URL, click the “Pick a design” button to choose a homepage design that you like for your new site.

Pick a theme you like – you can always refine it later or change it completely. Your theme controls your new site’s overall look and layout — it will not recreate your exact Wix design. Once your content is imported, you can customize the theme’s fonts, colors, and layout, or switch to a different theme at any time.

Step 3: Review your imported content

There is limited compatibility between the WordPress and Wix platforms. We will attempt to import as much of your content as possible. Here’s a non-exhaustive list of the types of content we can import:

  • Static pages
  • Images
  • Site title
  • Menus
  • Various other blocks and features

Some Wix content does not transfer through the import. Set these up manually after the import completes:

  • Blog posts: It is not possible to export blog posts from Wix to other platforms. As an alternative, Wix provides an RSS feed, which you can use to import the 20 most recent posts using the RSS Import WordPress plugin.
  • Wix templates: WordPress.com uses themes for site design — these are the equivalent of templates on Wix, and they let you change your site’s design without writing code. You picked a theme in Step 2, but you can switch themes at any time from Appearance → Themes (or Appearance → Theme Showcase in WP Admin).
  • Site styles: After choosing a theme, customize your new site’s fonts and colors.

Step 4: Transfer your domain from Wix to WordPress.com

Once you’re satisfied with the content and design of your new WordPress.com site, point your traffic to it by adding your domain. You have two options:
