Page Title Override
-
Hello,
We just started testing your plugin. Can you advise why the page tile has been replaced with “Featured Requests”?
Thank You

Hi Michael,
I am a bit confused here. What is the issue? What should the page title be?
Hey Ben – thanks for the reply.
The page title is what the site owner wants it to be – in this case it is about charitable giving initiatives called Needs & Seeds. The question is why does the plugin override the page title and not give me the ability to change it?
It should not be overriding the page title. How was the page created? Is the page title being generated dynamically or is it set manually in a file or page builder (like WPBakery or Elementor)?
That is just it, the title IS somehow being dynamically generated to “Feature Requests”. The page itself is not dynamically generated so I should have full control over it. I have several places where I can override the page title but none of those work so it has to be coming from the plugin somehow. The theme is using WPBakery builder but I build on the back end. I have not seen this behavior in any other situation or plugin. The only thing I can think is that maybe the plugin overrides the page title when you select the Archive page but that shouldn’t happen.
Is WPBakery using a dynamic field? Are you able to take a screen video to show how you are attempting to set the title?
Ben – have a look at these screenshots:

At this point I can give you access to the site if you want to take a look. The title function is no different than what you see with the classic WP editor.
Michael- I dug around and have come up with something to test. Simple Feature Requests is not altering the title, but there could be an incompatibility between the Total theme and Simple Feature Requests.
I put together a small plugin to test that theory. You can find it at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Vz2XwVfFnIJ8M_9Rzvh8oZAtiR2WoaRl/view?usp=sharing
Keep in mind that I do not have access to the Total theme, so this code is a shot in the dark. I recommend trying it on a dev or staging environment first.
Let me know how it goes.
If it works, I will add a compatibility layer into the Simple Feature Request core.
Hi,
This is Aj the theme author of the Total theme. I tested the plugin locally with a blank site and the page title displays as expected. I recorded a quick video.

ps: I did notice that the free plugin is named “Simple Feature Requests Pro” – I’m not sure if it was intended to include “Pro” in the free version name, it’s a bit confusing. At first I thought you guys accidentally uploaded the paid for version to WP.org on accident.
Hi AJ @wpexplorer !
Thanks for chiming in. Can you clarify, did you use that compatibility plugin or only the theme and the SFR plugin?
Thanks for noticing the naming issue! Not sure how that snuck in, but we will get it updated.
Hi Ben,
Nope I didn’t use your plugin, everything works out-of-the-box. I’m in contact with the user though and was able to assist him with a workaround. The site has many plugins and I suspect it’s a conflict with a different plugin hooking into the_title and messing things.
You can set this to resolved 😉

Thanks AJ!
