Ask our AI assistantThe Automattic status page shows any outages on WordPress.com and other Automattic services. If there is a major outage or scheduled maintenance, Automattic posts updates there too.
To check if WordPress.com is down, follow these steps:
- Visit the Automattic status page.
- Locate WordPress.com in the list and look at the Component Status column on the right side of the screen.
- Click the + icon next to WordPress.com to view the status of individual components.
If you see Operational (or a green check mark) under the Component Status column, WordPress.com is not down.

WordPress.com’s global infrastructure minimizes outages, which are typically rare and brief.
If the status page shows WordPress.com is operational but you still can’t access your site, the problem may be with your internet connection or network route. You can verify this using a third-party tool that checks site accessibility from multiple locations.
If the Automattic status page and Down for Everyone or Just Me both show WordPress.com is operational, the problem is with your individual site. To find and fix the cause, follow these steps:
- Check Troubleshooting: Why is my site down? for common causes, including browser caching, DNS issues, and connection problems.
- If you recently installed or updated a plugin or theme, see Solve problems with plugins and themes to check for conflicts.
