Rhapsody on Canada Day

On this bright and sunny Canada Day - bright and sunny in this part of the country, anyway - I am pleased to report that Rhapsody is feeling much better than she had been; a number of readers have been asking after her. Her appetite is very good, but not ravenous. She eats a large amount at each meal, but when she’s had enough, she will refuse more; neither is she turning it down when it’s offered, even though she may be hungry. Those had been characteristic of her previously, I think due, respectively, to her pregnancy, and whatever was causing fluid in her abdomen. They were not normal qualities.

I don’t know that the fluid has disappeared, or even decreased, but I suspect it has. There has been a definite improvement in her behaviour, and not just in her appetite. She is playing more. When I use the string-toy, she comes after it, rather than waiting for it; active, rather than reactive. She jumps and rolls and chases. She has also been playing with her kittens, wrestling with them like the youngster she is.

Rho has a doctor’s appointment in a week. Then, it will be determined how her insides are doing, and hopefully, a date may then be set for her spay surgery.

I hope my country’s birthday finds everyone happy and healthy, and I wish them as much luck as I have to live here.
