Who issues MUSD?
MUSD is issued by The Municipality of Tinian and Aguiguan, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), United States of America. The CNMI has a singular arrangement with the U.S. under the Covenant, which “…establish[es] a self-governing commonwealth.”
How are MUSD reserves held?
MUSD is 1:1 fully-reserved and fiat-backed with U.S. dollars and U.S. Treasury Bonds held by the Tinian Municipal Treasurer in U.S. financial institutions. Every MUSD is wholly and instantly redeemable for one U.S. dollar under U.S. law.
Can I convert MUSD to other currencies?
MUSD may be directly redeemed for U.S. dollars. Third party ecosystem partners may offer additional methods to exchange MUSD for global currencies and to convert MUSD into popular cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH, and others.
How can I use MUSD?
MUSD is digital cash and can be used in the same ways that you use currency today. MUSD can be sent directly peer-to-peer with no “gas” or fees. We pay the postage! Solutions for ecommerce and other industries will be available soon.
The MUSD logo is dedicated to the rich history and culture, strength and resilience, and the natural ecosystem of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. The latte stone is the robust foundation, or cornerstone, of the traditional Chamorro building. The central star represents the CNMI’s relationship with the United States. The fourteen stars encircling the logo signify each of the fourteen Northern Mariana Islands. And the vibrant blue color reflects the islands’ location in the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the ocean.
Si Yuus maase Tinian!
