History of Getting Court
The Getting Court project was initiated in 2015 by the then High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, Tom Birch Reynardson. A lawyer by training, he wanted to introduce children to the court process, to see for themselves the consequences of stepping the wrong side of the law, and to witness how the courts, the police, the probation and prison services all work together to protect and support our communities.
Since then, the popularity of the project has seen it evolve to also taking small groups of pupils on visits to HMP Huntercombe, and taking a prisoner with security clearance and on day release into schools.
