Doesn't Open on OS X Yosemite

Just downloaded GTKRadiant 1.6.4 for Mac, and it doesn't even open.

I'm on OS X 10.10.1.

Please post the radiant.log, or the error you get when running the binary
at the terminal.

Unsure where to find the radiant.log or do that. Sorry! Point me in the right direction and I'll get whatever you need.

Just ran into the same issue. I'm OSX 10.10. Couldn't find the log but below is the error that radiant throws when trying to run.

(radiant.bin:605): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: /private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.atq5olEsNG/org.macosforge.xquartz:0

Can you guys please try starting XQuartz separately, and then launching GtkRadiant? I'm noticing new behavior on my machine as well, where Radiant can't seem to launch XQuartz itself. But, if I start XQuartz, I can then launch Radiant just fine.

I'll be putting a new build up anyway, but I'm wondering if this is some sort of regression with XQuartz on Yosemite.

New build cut on Yosemite this morning, runs fine here:

Interestingly, after I had to manually start XQuartz the very first time, I can fully quit XQuartz and re-launch Radiant without issue. On subsequent launches, it seems to fire up XQuartz no problem. Maybe this was a fluke, or the very first time I had ever run XQuartz on my machine. Not sure.

Thank you for the link. I have tried that binary, and it launches... but at first launch it showed me just "Quake2World" as game option (I think to recall the previous version allowed me to select Quake 3 Arena), and then I got an error, even at subsequent re-launches:

Would you like to edit Preferences before exiting Radiant?

Therefore I don't know what to do... ideas?

Oh -- hah, that's because I did not install the game packs before bundling it up -- my bad! I'll get a proper build done tonight. In the meantime, great! It sounds like the new build works (runs).

On closer inspection, there was nothing wrong with the previous build, either. I had accidentally bundled my local q2w.game file in the install, and that's why Quake2World was pre-selected as your game. You could have just clicked "Configure more games" on the preferences screen and been okay (I think). But at any rate, here's a fresh build with all of the game packs up to date.

@TTimo would you update the link on the website to point to this new build?
