I dislike how heavily moderated this subreddit has become.

The entire point of Reddit's upvote/downvote system is that the community is meant to be able to decide on what people should be able to see.

Every single post in /r/Melbourne being automatically put into a "mod-queue", and then mods determining what gets shown and what doesn't... feels like it goes against the principle of the platform.

Trying to suggest that the phrases "From the River to the Sea..." or "Globalise the Intifada" are explicit or tacit calls for violence is disingenuous and does a big disservice to the current battle against the actual rise of anti-semitism.

Anti-semitism is undeniably rising, and it's becoming increasingly dangerous for Jews around the world. As a father to two daughters with hebrew names this terrifies me.

But Palestinian resistance and activism is not inherently anti-semitism. The word "intifada" does not mean violent resistance, despite some powerful attempts from Israeli lobby groups to suggest as such.

I'm an Australian Jew so didn't vote in NYC. I did, however, get married in NYC and have spent a lot of time in NYC so I'm pretty invested in this topic.

I consider myself a progressive secular Jew. I would have voted for Mamdani for three primary reasons;

1) Cuomo is a corrupt sex offender and everything wrong with modern politics.
2) Mamdani, while not perfect, genuinely seems like a good human with good intentions.
3) I do not believe that being pro-Palestinian/anti-genocide is the same thing as being anti-semitic. I'm sorry, but I just don't.

Hopefully I do not get banned for this comment like I was banned from r/Jewish.
