As long as you’ve RGB-Modded your N64, you can use the exact same SNES SCART/Component Video cables – Just remember to use a cable that matches your region (NTSC/PAL), or a universal cable. Please see the SNES Cable section for more info. Nintendo 64 RGB SCART / Component Video Cables (same as SNES): https://retrorgb.com/snescsable.html
NTSC S-Video Cables: All NTSC N64’s output S-Video without a modification, all that’s needed is a good cable:
Retro Gaming Cables NTSC S-Video Cable
Insurrection Industries NTSC S-Video Cable
Cheap S-Video Cable (this will NOT perform as well as the above cables, but it’s cheap and will get the job done.
PAL S-Video Cables: Some PAL N64’s only require a cable, however others may require a mod to enable S-Video.
Consoles4You PAL S-Video Cable
Also, some versions of the N64 output better Composite and S-Video than others. This doesn’t effect RGB, but if you’re using S-Video, you might be interested in reading about it: http://s9.zetaboards.com/Nintendo_64_Forever/topic/7363768/1/
HDMI Output:
Most plug-and-play “HDMI cables” for classic consoles are terrible and should be avoided, however the RAD2x products are zero-lag and process the image correctly to a 480p-output. They even have a smoothing filter that does an excellent job with N64’s early 3D graphics – I did a full review here. Also, the SNES version is universal and can be used with any N64, including ones without a mod: https://retrorgb.link/rad2x
Internal, True Digital HDMI Mods:
Internal HDMI mods are extremely complicated to install and costly if you have to pay an installer. BUT, the total price might be cheaper than buying a scaler and quality cables. So for most people with multiple analog video consoles, getting the other cables listed on this page and a good upscaler is the most cost-effective, high performance way to connect those consoles to flat-panels. But if the N64is your favorite console, or the only one that needs HDMI-out, these are great choices:
Feel free to head back to the main N64 page, or head to the main console section to check out mods for other consoles.
