🚨 Big news, Michigan! We’re erasing over $74 million in medical debt for over 72,000 Michiganders in the second round of medical debt forgiveness. Our partnership with @unduemeddebt means fewer Michigan families have to choose between buying groceries or paying medical bills.

No one person had a bigger influence on me than my dad. I think of him every day and this Father’s Day, I miss him even more. I am wishing a Happy Father’s Day to every Michigander celebrating and reflecting today.

I commend the efforts of Attorney General Nessel, Romulus Mayor McCraight, and our state and federal lawmakers for putting a stop to this facility.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency has decided to abandon its plans to convert the Romulus warehouse into an immigration detention center and instead will sell the facility. Read the AG's full statement and learn more at go.mi.gov/peqnb2725
A black and white image featuring text: "AG Nessel issues statement on proposed sale of planned ICE warehouse in Romulus." Below the text is a photo of the Romulus Warehouse surrounded by trees and grass with some patches of snow. At the bottom left, there is a seal, and on the right, there is a prompt to swipe for the full statement.
"Romulus simply was not – and never would be – the appropriate place for a large-scale detention center. The decision to sell the facility is a victory not just for the residents of Romulus whose day-to-day life would have been negatively impacted by its presence, but for the entire metro region.

The ICE warehouse proposal was every bit as ill-conceived as it was cruel and unnecessary, and I am relieved that this chapter is coming to a close.”

- Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel
"I am grateful to the City of Romulus and the attorneys within my office whose hard work kept this abomination from landing in a resilient and determined community.

I remain undeterred in my pledge to protect the people of this great State from unlawful federal actions and unnecessary harms, even when perpetrated by our own government.”

Right now, we face a housing shortage that is driving up costs and keeping families from their American Dream.   It's time for us to cut red tape, streamline zoning, and get shovels hitting dirt so we can build more homes and make housing affordable.

We're fixing the damn roads, bringing jobs home, investing in our kids, and working to lower costs for working families. We're not done yet. We'll keep delivering results and building opportunity for every Michigander.   I’m all gas, no brakes until my last day in office.

Congratulations to Michigan’s very own Megan Keller & Shiann Darkangelo who both received recognition at last night’s PWHL Awards. Megan Keller secured PWHL Defender of the Year while Shiann was one of four Impact Award recipients. Michigan is so proud of Megan and Shiann!

I proposed a plan during my State of the State to lower housing costs . The plan would unlock a new, state-level affordable housing tax credit, cut red tape, and streamline zoning. Let’s build more homes and drive costs down so every Michigander can find a place to call home.

Every family knows the feeling of having tough conversations about finances. That's why we've stayed focused on making a difference for your family: lowering child care costs, making school meals free, and cutting over $1 billion in taxes for our seniors and working families.
