For those saying we should be magnanimous about the passing of the queen, a reminder that the queen inserted herself into the lives of Indigenous people here multiple times. She wasn't a bystander to the effects of colonisation and colonialism, she was an architect of it.

Imagine seeing the number of young Aboriginal children taking their own lives in the past two weeks (and beyond), and thinking “I control the money in this country. I will put almost $50m toward celebrating colonisation.” You’d have to be pretty shit, let’s be honest.

Demanding Indigenous people be respectful about the passing of someone who intentionally made our lives worse is outrageous. It's worth considering what she *could* have done - and didn't - to effect change.

If you don't understand why people terribly affected through her reign are using humour at the moment, you can do two things. 1. Read more about the way humour is used to flip the tables of agency. 2. Have a little think.

I may be 39 years old but that's not gonna stop me from going to Tafe and getting an Education now im Clean and Sober. I was kicked out of school at 14 and have never sat in a classroom since. I Just want all my Mob to know that no matter your situation things can tuen around.

I'm gonna come right out and say it. Cook did not discover Australia. Even if you discount the Indigenous people who have been here for more than 60,000 years. He followed maps here, because many other European navigators had mapped the continent.

Decolonising school libraries 🧵 4yrs ago my 8yo excitedly brought home this school library book. i knew from the cover it wasn't going to read well. i met with the librarian & asked what other books like this were on the shelves. she couldn't say.
