One of our colleagues lost both his parents in last weekend's tragedy. Cory, all your friends and colleagues at TIR, as well as every Nova Scotian, are with you. A yellow truck convoy drove by Cory’s home today to show support for Cory, and his mum and dad, Joy and Peter Bond.

We are moving quickly to remove symbols of a far-right extremist group painted on highway infrastructure in Lunenburg area and elsewhere. RCMP have also been notified. There’s no room for this kind of vandalism by extremist groups that threaten our communities.

On May 31, we learned the Geddes Bridge on Route 309 in Shelburne was lost in a wildfire. On June 6, our crews were able to start work on temporary replacement. Six days later, we're proud to say the bridge has reopened!

More than 40 of our staff are helping out with the Long Lake wildfire. We're clearing brush, maintaining road closures and using our tankers to bring water to fire crews and fuel to emergency responders. We hope to have three more tankers there in the next few days.

Our plows are working around the clock, but this is a big storm. It will take some time to get our roads back to good condition. As conditions improve in certain areas, we will move our heavy equipment to places where the need is greatest. We really appreciate your patience.

Roads are partially covered, or completely covered, with poor visibility across the province. Please do not travel, unless absolutely necessary. If you want to see conditions near you, call 511 or visit 511.novascotia.ca

A week ago, we opened the newest twinned section of Highway 104. Hundreds of Nova Scotians worked for many years to make this drive safer, more efficient for business and to better connect our communities. It's truly a made in Nova Scotia success story.

All our plows are out doing their best to clear the roads and highways. This is going to be a long storm, and it will take some time to get roads back to good conditions. If you see a plow, please give it lots of space. Poor visibility and high snowbanks can be dangerous.

Last night Public Works crews reopened the last road blocked by last weekend’s snowstorm. All provincial roads are now open to at least one lane. Crews will spend the next week, or so, widening roads and removing snow. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
