If @NYTimesGuild members don't have a deal soon, we’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Pull out a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.

Today we were ready to work for as long as it took to reach a fair deal, but management walked away from the table with five hours to go. It’s official: @NYTimesGuild members are walking out for 24 hours on Thursday. We know what we’re worth.

You are all Queen Bees in our hearts, but we are sick of management’s games. Stand with us on the digital picket line!

Good morning, @nytimes. We solved today's crossword for you.
A crossword format shows NYTIMES intersecting with UNION and WALKS. The clues say "Company whose workers are asking for a fair contract" Answer: NYTIMES; "Journalists, designers, security guards, news assistants and more make this" Answer: UNION; and "What the union does if the NYTimes doesn't settle the contract by December 8" Answer: WALKS. The New York Times Guild logo is on the image.

After 20 months of negotiations, enough is enough: Today, more than 1,000 @NYTimesGuild members pledged to walk out if @nytimes does not agree to a complete and fair contract by Dec. 8.

As covid cases rise once again, @nytimes management sent out an email today telling staff they’re “expected” to return to the office on Sept. 12. What they didn’t do is negotiate this with our union first. No Guild employee has to come back until the Times negotiates.

That’s why tomorrow’s walkout is, for now, still on.

We made some progress with management during our bargaining session yesterday, but there is one big sticking point: Our demand that @nytimes use our trans journalists's correct names on past and current bylines.
