In 2023, Chinese hackers Xu Zewei & Zhang Yu were indicted for breaking into two Houston universities to steal vaccines and medical research. This was part of an effort which targeted over 60,000 US entities in a massive state-sponsored operation. I've introduced the Espionage

In 2024, a card-carrying Chinese Communist Party member, Youhuang Xiang, on a student visa at Indiana University received a package from China labeled “Underwear” that actually contained concealed biological material. He was caught and deported. My Espionage Protection Act

In 2020, Harvard’s chemistry department chair Charles Lieber joined China’s Thousand Talents Program as a “strategic scientist” for Wuhan University of Tech. He lied to the FBI and NIH, hid a Chinese bank account, & walked away with $15 million in US taxpayer research grants.

In 2023, 5 Chinese nationals from the University of Michigan were caught spying on a nearby National Guard base. The school let them graduate the next year and they were able to flee the country before charges could be filed. That should never have been allowed to happen.
