    Block chains won’t bring us the *really* interesting next web. CRDTs will. Much less sexy, since they don’t involve money. Much less momentum and ecosystem around them. Most applications are in toy stages. I’ve been working with them for 2.5y now and couldn’t be more bullish.

    CRDTs are the core primitive that will transform the web from a “creator → server → consumer” model to a “collaborator ← → collaborator” model, at the deepest level. CRDTs are what the web should have been. I’m at the start of making that a usable reality. (stay tuned)

    I’ve been talking to lots of smart and creative people about their note-taking setup lately. A few surprises: - many use plain text files & their default/favorite text editor - some use paper only - some use Roam, Notion, etc. but use almost none of the features Why? 👇

    Sorry, they’re too German to care about that stuff. They’re thinking about bulk purchase of server cpus and their electricity deal with the local council and then tell their colleague Rainer about it over Kaffee and then go home to their families

    Hospitality in software UX. They’re not “users”. They are “guests” and might become “regulars”. Make them feel welcome, later make them feel special.
