exercise is a celebration of what you can do. not a punishment for what you ate.

to avoid burnout at work use the 30-30 rule: after 30 minutes of work, quit your job and disappear into the mountains for 30 years.

if reincarnation is real, I wonder how many people stare at their own art in museums, listen to music they made in a different life, and read books they don't remember writing.

my therapist just told me, “if you’re always having to be the bigger person, maybe you shouldn’t be around so many little people.” wow.

“i’m 27 years old, i’ve no money and no prospects. i’m already a burden to my parents, and i’m frightened” is as relevant today as when jane austen wrote it in 1813

Those words were not written by Jane Austen, they were from Emma Thompson, who consulted on the script of the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice m.imdb.com/title/tt041438… independent.co.uk/arts-entertain…

I'm 37. Instead of regretting that I can't wake up age 18 again, I pretend to myself that I'm 90 and I've woken up age 37 again, and that I get to magically, wonderfully have the next 50 years again.

To my 25 - 35 year olds, you've reached the age where people around you are starting to give up on themselves because they think it's too late. Don't let that energy rub off on you. It's not too late.

lately when I meet new people, I ask them what their hobbies are instead of what they do for work, and let me tell you, the conversations have been absolutely top tier!

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it’s called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don’t care, but because you care too much.

most of your "adult" problems can be avoided if you: - regularly workout - get a 2nd income source - eat real food - find 3 real friends - live below your means - do what you love for work - don't have kids with the wrong person

my father always told me: "if you want to go for a run, go for a run, don't look for company. sooner or later, on your fifth run or your twentieth, likeminded people will find you themselves." and only recently have I realized that this principle works everywhere.
