In light of today's news, since I mentioned in my previous post that I'm a member of the WordPress Security Team, before anyone asks me: No, I was not aware.

Recent changes to my contribution flow were made so I could contribute safely and take time to consider a larger decision. Update: I'm withdrawing contributions to Core and WordPress.org properties until further notice. More: gist.github.com/costdev/4c25a1…

#WordPress This is the project's "visionary". Every one of you is more important than you think you are, and certainly more important than Matt thinks you are. Matt continues to show he doesn't represent this community anymore. Stay strong. Support each other. Demand better.

Matt's behaviour despite constant calls to stop means I'll never trust him He had many chances He chose to weaponize us He chose an alignment offer He chose to laugh An A8C buffer between him and us? Still under his control. Community-led governance or nothing. Demand better.

The community is the community. I'll always be a part of it, and continue to nourish it in any way that I can. 🙂

+1 I think there's also a problem that it keeps being referred to as merely "drama" and is therefore more easily dismissed - We've all said it, but we should probably differentiate the "drama" from the very real and very impactful stress and damage that actions are having.

So sorry to hear this Scott. While we've all been treated with disrespect, you've had it particularly rough with Matt dismissing the work on the Fields API as he planned to seize ACF, and now this. You deserve better.

A lot of planning and agreement is needed to establish an infrastructure with good governance, finance and skillset to make it happen. If there's recourse for change of power over the project to community-led, that's much preferred. If not, then as always I support the community.

They aren't mistakes. They're specific decisions for specific purposes. He knows the harm they'll cause. He's been told and continues. He does so not for, but rather despite and sometimes to spite, the community. "mistakes" sanitizes his disdain for the community. Please don't.

My profiles don't state an incentive, economically or otherwise, to be biased towards the other direction because I don't have any such incentive. I speak with the perspective and responsibility of a WordPress committer, component maintainer, triage lead, and community member.
