- Solana seems like a 20th century approach to solving a 21st century problem.
- I went into crypto full-time ~4 years ago. I was skeptical (mostly about it scaling), but I suspended my disbelief in order to learn. Everything shifted when I grasped the architecture with zero-knowledge proofs. The basics of zk are crucial for predicting the next decade's tech.
- I've been in SF, LA, Miami and NYC this year. Outsiders don't understand how focused the SF tech scene is. Its monoculture is in bed by 10pm; nightlife doesn't exist - weekend nature hikes are your recreation. Lifestyle is optimized around health and startup success, not culture.
- While YugaLab's users spent $100m in gas and choked mainnet with their drop, @viamirror users quietly minted 520k @optimismPBC NFTs on L2 for less than 50c each. Optimistic Rollups are production ready, and apps are emerging. It's time to choose Optimism.
- I often interview candidates who are still in college, and wish I could publish these conversations. Many of the smartest kids are planning to take a break from school to participate in DAOs, NFTs, & DeFi. Web3 will be a foundational skillset in the next generation of work.
- If you're a millennial struggling to understand crypto, just recall Harry Potter from your intellectually impoverished childhood. The houses are DAOs, the points are tokens, the magic is the Blockchain. Choose your DAO, learn some spells, get some tokens.
- We're crowdfunding a DAO for collaboratively learning about crypto's impact on culture and society. It begins as reading & discussion groups, lead by prominent voices. The DAO will also produce research for a publication on Mirror. Details below👇
- I just gave away all my possessions and left my home of 6 years. I am closer to dust than I’ve ever been as an adult. A digital vagabond; abundant only in information. Tomorrow I’ll wake up on a different continent and renegotiate with life from a new shore!
- My dream for Mirror is that it meaningfully improves the quality of writing on the internet.
- 200 people are organizing in a Discord after crowdfunding $85k in 20 minutes for a learning DAO on crypto & society Trad edu models are broken — profs overloaded & underfunded, students indebted as university endowments balloon to billions DAOs can radically revitalize learning
- DAOs are extreme organizations. They thrive either in contexts of singular focus, like raising $50m to buy the constitution, or as on-chain nations like BTC or Ethereum. DAOs struggle in slow marshes, where loyalty and predictability (tenants of traditional management) are vital.
- I'd love to start a reading and discussion group exploring the impact of crypto on culture and society. Maybe, "Crypto, Culture, & Society" is an appropriate name. Lots of ways this could go. DM if interested. A syllabus for general consumption will exist, if started.
- The @nounsdao treasury has 2,074 ETH ($6.8m), and it's only been live for 15 days. What makes this NFT project special? It innovates in rendering and governance. I read every line of code, and wrote this overview - including some technical observations.
