After working 8 years as a web developer, I've quit my job to focus on helping people learn to code. I'll be focusing on my course and my YouTube channel. Thanks to everyone who's watched my videos and supported me! Nervous but excited for the future✨ youtu.be/OdkzB13xjL0

The clamp() function is a great example of how CSS keeps evolving with the demands of website design. Instead of having to write an algebraic formula for fluid typography, clamp() will do all the work for us.

Was contacted by a non-profit that teaches coding-- they provided me subtitles in Arabic so their students (Syrian and Afghan refugees) can learn from my YT video! It's kinda mind-blowing to see people around the world watching my stuff 🤯

You may not know this about me... I've been a web dev for 8 years, but didn't do a CS degree or coding bootcamp. I was almost 30 when I started out. It was a LONG journey, but I did make it eventually. So how did I get here? 👇🏼Watch the full story here👇🏼 youtu.be/jA14r2ujQ7s

Just for fun, here's a timelapse of my work this week! On the right I'm building the website from the Figma design, and on the left I'm writing the script, talking thru my thought process and explaining as I build.

If you're a beginner, focus on learning the basics first: HTML, CSS, & JS, and how websites work. Later on you can get into JS frameworks and other tools and libraries. Don't be in such a rush that you skim over those fundamentals.

Holy crap I broke 100k on YouTube!! 😱 Thank you all so much for your support! 🙏🏽 I'm going to do a Q&A video to celebrate, so let me know what questions you'd like me to talk about (related to web dev or my channel) and maybe I'll feature your question in the video!

I feel slightly silly posting on social media about this, but I also feel like I can't not say something? 😂

Working on the next intro section to my course, an intro to Git and GitHub! There's a lot of prep and research that goes into making tutorials-- making sure everything I say is accurate, and choosing how much information to include. It's challenging but fun!

CSS is 20% coding and 80% organization / naming things.

If you have these skills, you'll go much further as a web developer: Researching and finding solutions on your own (e.g. Google) and the patience to do it. Self-awareness to identify areas where you can improve, and the humility to do it.
