The year is 1705 come along and follow the journey of the pirate crew of the Astyrian, a squarerigger ship - As they sail into one port after another they gather colorful additions to their motley crew they call a 'family'. Like any crew, they have their initiations, their rites of passage - it keeps their captain on his toes, and of course plays havoc with his nerves! They roll into town; they pillage and they plunder, and sometimes they even get caught. But they always seem to find their way out of prison, and back onto the decks of the Astyrian. And aboard their ship another sort of drama unfolds: their love affairs, their friendships, their rivalries. More than just tears have been spilled, below deck as well as above it.
This is an original pirate role play community. You create a character; be they scum of society, hardened seadogs, peaceful landlubbers, priests, judges, or nobility. Your character then interacts with the other original characters in this community. Every player character here is a dynamic character, meaning as the story goes on they learn and grow, changing with their environments. There will be times where things can get intense and a little unpleasant but remember: it's just a game. Please read the rules closely before sending in your application. I’m not terribly picky about who joins, but if you cannot form coherent sentences and use some proper grammar to some extent, I will not allow you to join. I also reserve the right to remove anyone, without reason, from the game. When sending the application, please put in the subject line: 'Pirate RPG'. When you're all done send your application here: taibhse@livejournal.com.
** We plan to start things around the 7th of October. Also, at the moment we are in need of more male characters.

Rule 1.Het, Slash, Femslash - anything goes. If you can’t accept it then don’t bother applying. Pirates are a little weird, and also tend to be quite violent, so they might have a very odd idea of how to have a 'good time'. Be prepared for the worst (people may get quite intense). Keep an open mind. Rule 2. You must post at least once a week to keep the community active, not that hard.. even if it is just a sentence long. I understand that problems may arise where you can't post. In this event, please post in the OOC community with a little note to inform me ahead of time. I'll be happy to inform others and work around your absence. If by chance you can't make that one post a week let me know and I will make a note not to remove you for inactivity. Rule 3.Please use correct spelling and grammar! Don't waltz in with 'omg liek ur kewl ::hugs::' because I'll just send your application straight to the circular file. I'm the Queen of Sentence fragments so I'm not too snippy about the grammar but spelling is a huge must. Rule 4. Do not tYpE lIke ThIs!!!!11 it drives people nuts! Rule 5. Use correct lingo. Or at least hit in the ballpark :P If you don't know where the poop deck is, we really have a problem. Rule 6. You must be over the age of 16 to join. Rule 7. Any R to NC-17 rated content is to be friend locked and put under an LJ-Cut with proper warning. Rule 8.Letters and Newspaper Articles are posted on the community journal. Rule 9. I will approve your membership when it makes its way into my mailbox. If you're accepted, a request to join the IC and OOC communities will be sent to you; please accept and join both of them. Rule 10. Major plots and ideas need to be run by me first. If you want to kill-off your character, for example, I need to know ahead of time so that we can have a nice little group discussion on how to go about it. Rule 11. No godmoding, no controlling another person's character unless you have permission from them (and have notified me). Rule 12. Be sure to put "arr!" somewhere in your application so I know you've read the rules :).
