From Your Deputy Headmistress: Hello, everyone! My name is Lanna (jadedquill), and I am serving as your current Deputy Headmistress. I was once a student, too, and understand that things can get confusing from time to time. As such, I am always eager to lend a hand (or simply an ear) to anyone who needs it. 1. First, go to ch_sorting to get sorted as you must be a stamped and sorted member to vote and participate in our activities. Read the RULES before you begin to fill out your application.
   
2. When you apply for sorting, remember: don't be a BUTT, LJ cut! If you don't know how to use an lj-cut, see this page for instructions. Also use cuts for possible spoilers (see our spoilers policy here), large graphics (measuring more than 400 pixels on any one side), or large bodies of text (more than a couple of paragraphs).
   
3. This is an all-ages friendly community. REASONABLE profanity is ok, but derogatory or hateful terms are not. This extends to LJ user names as well.
   
4. Although we encourage a healthy rivalry between the houses, flaming, personal attacks, and derogatory terms are NOT permitted, and any student(s) engaging in such will be subject to disciplinary action, which includes deduction of points, and banning from the community.
   
5. House points will be awarded for participating in classes, contests, and Quidditch, as well as with special requests made by faculty. Please read our current Points Policy (as of 10/18/08) to familiarize yourself with our points system. After each term, we will recognize the house with the most points, and they are awarded the House Cup.
   
6. When casting your vote in a sorting please put your vote in the SUBJECT line of your comment (your vote being one of the following- Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Squib. Please do not use hybrid house names like Gyffinpuff or Slytherclaw.) You must also state your reason for voting the person into that house, along with your name and house in the comment.
   
7. When you are participating in a contest or answering questions in class, please put your house in the subject line, and sign your post with your name.
   
8. For question #16 (on the sorting application), please first put the name of any creature (ex. flobberworm) in the Harry Potter world to show you read these rules. You will be automatically squibbed if you do not.
   
9. Please do not harass the faculty.
   
10. These rules are subject to change at any time.
    
11. It goes without saying that the Headmistress and Deputy Headmistress decision is final. We will only veto a subject or sorting that we feel wouldn't be fair otherwise.

The House of Ravenclaw Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw If you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning Will always find their kind Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Ravenclaw, one of Hogwart's four houses, is associated with high intelligence and quick wit, and while Ravenclaws are often labelled as "geeks" or "bookworms", we take these compliments in stride. We are a diverse bunch, with our house including everyone from serious, highly-driven Type A personalities, to absent-minded geniuses, to inveterate pranksters who know the exact combination of ingredients to cause the biggest explosions in Potions class. Although we are mostly associated with book smarts, we realize that not all learning comes in the classroom, and look to new experiences as lessons in of themselves. While we do appreciate the intellectual, a Ravenclaw's wit should not go unmentioned. Not only are we quick thinkers, we can also be devastatingly funny. The House of Slytherin Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends Those cunning folk use any means To achieve their ends Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Proud, ambitious, intelligent and cunning, Slytherin students don't think they're the best, they know it. They know what they want, and how to get it, and if that means stepping on a few people along the way, so be it. But don't get them wrong! Slytherins are not really "bad" or "evil," just overenthusiastic in their goals with a more sarcastic sense of humour than most. Slytherins tend to look out for themselves first, and others second. This is not a bad quality; most people have a strong self-preservation instinct. Slytherin simply embraces that instinct, rather than shunning it as a bad thing. We love our friends and family, and like our snake, we are quick to strike when threatened. Crossing a Slytherin might not kill you, but you will definitely regret it. by Aki- aki_jade
