Rockstar INXS auction
Just found out that the Rockstar INXS show is auctioning off items, some signed by the contestants, to support the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. http://www.rockstar-auctions.com/I think this is a really nice idea and am glad to see the money going to a good cause. new INXS singer
Not sure if everyone watched the last episode tonight of Rock Star-INXS, but JD won the title. I am not sure how I feel about him being the new lead singer yet (as my heart will always belong to Michael), but he did seem to be overwhelmed with emotion when he won and interacted with the band during his performance. In my opinion, JD seemed to much like Michael in voice and stage presence and I was hoping the band would get a new singer who would take them in a slightly different direction (reason I was rooting for Marty). So, my question to everyone is what do you think about the new singer??? Current Mood: curious | | Sunday, August 14th, 2005 | 11:29 pm [tn_tiger]

Coming to terms with swan songs.
I bought "Elegantly Waster" shortly after it came out, after Michael Hutchence's death. I'd been a fan for a while by that point, and had several other albumbs of theirs. I REALLY didn't care for "EW". I'm not sure I listened to it all the way through, and I know I didn't listen to it after that. However, Brandon's performance last weeek made got me to thinking that I should give it another try, even if he didn't do justice to "Don't Lose Your Head". I had to work overtime this past Saturday...it was just working faxes, I didn't really have to interact w/anyone like I usually do, so I brought some INXS to work to listen to. I was pleasantly surprised by "Elegantly Wasted". It's not as strong as their earlier work, but I liked it a LOT better now, especially "She is Rising" and "Shake the Tree". It's definitely in the rotatoin now :) Maybe my sandess was just to fresh last time. I was wondering if anyone else had the same experience, and what people thought of that album in general. WTF, Mate?
Hi everyone! I'm Lisa. I know I haven't really posted here before, but I've been an INXS fan since middle school. I've been following "Rock Star" since it started, although I haven't caught every episode. Right now, I'm favoring (in no particular order) Ty, Marty, Mig or Jordis. (Although I was really impressed by Susie's arrangement last night.) JD scares me...strikes me as unstable. This is all just FYI...it's not really something I'm interested in arguing about. The real reason I'm posting, though: I have a ( Theory about tonight's otherwise myterious decisionCollapse )(X-posted) Current Mood: disappointed | | Saturday, July 16th, 2005 | 5:04 pm [skyler_bq]

hmm.
What does everyone think of Tim?? Based on the first two episodes, he seems to take a bit of a leadership role. Which is funny cuz I used to get the impression in videos, etc... that he wanted to be Micheal... the sexy guy in the spotlight... whereas other band members seemed to fit it their places happy to take on more side roles. Has anyone else noticed this? .. as I pull out Falling down the Mountain video to show Tim as the only shirtless band member... skipping wildly... If so, do you find it funny that he's now the one kinda leading the show? Or ... maybe thats just his personality? ... opinions.... ? | | Friday, July 15th, 2005 | 12:29 pm [scaevus]

Rockstar.
So, Rockstar has recently started on Australian television, and I have been watching the episodes with a mixture of interest and disgust. I'm vaguely surprised, also, that no-one has commented on it thus far. So, what do people think? Questions? Comments? Queries? Please, discuss. Two days in a row.
Hi. I don't really have any immediate questions.. just wanted to say hello as I just joined today. Are there many people still active with this community?? There were so few INXS communities!!! So, I'm a 25 year old university student in Canada. Being so young when INXS hit big here, I seemed to have missed most of their best moments.... so ... thank god for videos and concert dvds!! I was introduced to them a few years ago and am now trying to catch up with all that I've missed. All that time wasted on 90s boy bands!!!!! ahhhh!!! :) ... stupid stupid child. Well, I guess I do have a question. When is Rockstar to start? What sort of opinions do you guys have about the bands angle for getting back out in the spotlight? Predictions on how the new 6 will be accepted by fans? | | Tuesday, April 5th, 2005 | 2:19 pm [riverslifehouse]

Hey there, my name's Jen and I just joined today. I've always loved INXS, but never actually decided to check lj for any communities. I got my Live Baby Live DVD in the mail today, which got me thinking about it. Also, I have a question. Does anybody know where I can find screencaps from their videos? I have I'm Only Looking DVD, but I'm such an idiot with a computer that I have no idea how to get them for myself. In particular Need You Tonight/Mediate & Mystify. Thanks to anyone who can help! Michael Hutchence desktop Hi- I made a nifty Michael Hutchence desktop if anyone's interested... Check it out here. I also have more music icons and desktops there. This is my graphics journal, my regular one is _brokenwhisper_
Also- I was wondering if anyone here has read 'Just A Man'. I've read mixed reviews and know that they're released a second special edition of it... but haven't read it for myself as of yet. Any thoughts? | | Monday, June 14th, 2004 | 11:26 pm [arcmorality]

INXS to star in reality TV show
Rock group INXS are to search for a new lead singer on a reality TV show. The show, titled Rock Star, will see the band hold auditions on five continents to find a replacement for Michael Hutchence, who died in 1997. The winner will have the chance to record an album with the band as well as touring with them. Since Hutchence's death in 1997, the band have continued with a number of different singers including Terence Trent D'Arby and Jon Stevens. Fantastic "After Michael died we wanted to search the world for a new singer but didn't know how we could effectively do that," INXS guitarist Tim Farriss said. "But we've now found a fantastic way to make that happen." Rock Star will differ from other TV talent shows in that the winner will not be chosen entirely by viewers. Instead, hopefuls will work with the band and music industry professionals, who will assess their performances. There's room on TV for more than one great music-based show Mark Burnett Producer The programme will be made by Mark Burnett Productions, the company behind US reality TV hits Survivor and The Apprentice. It will be broadcast on US screens in 2005. Mr Burnett said the band pitched the idea to him earlier this year. "I am a long-time fan of INXS and feel very fortunate that they approached us with this idea and have entrusted us with their future," he said. "There's room on TV for more than one great music-based show, and I feel that rock music has been totally left out of that mix." INXS have sold more than 30m albums during their 25-year career and topped charts all over the world. US soul singer Terence Trent D'Arby and Jon Stevens, former frontman of the Australian band Noiseworks, are among those who have sung with the band since Michael Hutchence's death. Reality show
What does everything think about the idea of remaining memembers of Inxs doing the reality show to find a new singer? Personally I hope they don't do it. | | Thursday, May 20th, 2004 | 12:08 am [eighties1]
