#104 - winter but not Christmas

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash (which is a two week challenge so we get a bit of a break over Christmas) is to make a project that is focussed on winter, but not a Christmas project.  I chose this 3-d image that I love and used a little bit on neutral winter paper that was sitting on my desk to complete it...the ribbon on this project is at least 50 years old and came from one of my grandmas when she passed...trying to use it up instead of holding on to it...play along with us, will you?

#96 - 103 tag you're it

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is called Tag you're it - make a tag for your project...I had a package of Santa belts that was calling my name to be used up...and all of these little tags had an ink spill up the side of them, so what better way to use them up instead of getting rid of them...now I have some quick Christmas tags for gifts...play along with us, will you?

#83 - 95 pretty packaging

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is all about the packaging - I saw a design on Doodlebug Designs for keurig K cups and had to copy it...changed it up a bit by adding a little box of chocolates as a tree trunk...I made these for all the coffee lovers around us (I actually made 12 of them and it took me about 8 hours to make them all...but they are super cute)...hoping they like them...they are kind of like a coffee advent calendar...play along with us, will you?

#82 - paper strip art

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use the Bargello technique...this is something I have not really played with before...but I had all these "party" coloured scraps laying in my scrap basket so I figured I would play around with it...ended up a little crooked, I am sure there is a better technique to assemble than what I used, but it was fun none the less...play along with us, will you?

#80-81 warm and fuzzy

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is "warm and Fuzzy" - do something that makes you feel warm and fuzzy...I went for warm for the scarf and fuzzy because I made these reindeer sparkly and fuzzy in real life...sparkle fluff all the way..what a time consuming and finicky project but so cute in the end...play along with us, will you?

I dug deep into the scrap bucket on my desk this week for our Shopping our Stash challenge - to use something sittingon your desk...what a great challenge to use up scraps that are just sitting there staring you down and making you feel guilty by cutting into new paper when the old stuff is just sitting there taunting ...

#78 - giving thanks




This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is "gobble till you wobble or to give thanks" - I chose the thank you card as we have already had thanksgiving here in Canada and I don't usually give out turkey cards on that holiday.  It just so happens that my daughter came home from school on Friday and let me know that she is on the welcoming committee at school and volunteered to bring the thank you cards to the veterans coming for the Rememberance day service at the school on Thursday.  The teacher was giving her instructions on getting the thankyou cards at the dollar store and she promptly let him know that her mom makes cards and that a hand made card is a gazillion times nicer to get than a card from a dollar store...then she volunteered me to make them...lol...according to her they had to have poppies for rememberance day and lots of texture but they had to be good for a girl or a boy...(I tweaked a card I saw online from a Unity girl somewhere. Not sure who but I loved the style and thought I would add a bit to it).she wasn't sure how many were needed so I made 6 just in case...thanks for looking

#73 - home sweet home

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use a house on your project - all of the items used to make this card were kit leftovers that I had to get through....trying to use up all my bits and pieces in little card projects...play along, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use 3 trees in your project....I love this die and I thought it was so multifunctional for different types of masculine cards that I whipped up a few different type of cards with one pattern - play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is called "birds of a feather" - please use a bird or feather - or both - on your project....I stamped these Tim Holtz birds on grey for a different look - the card is for someone who is "over the hill", so the grey and black was necessary - play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to to use fruits or veggies on your projects...as summer is not quite over here (even though technically it is - but we don't want to wish winter here too quickly) I thought I would use strawberries...play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is pretty self explanatory...use fairies or angels in your project....I have used all scraps off of my work desk for this one...kind of glad because I was sort of tired of looking at that particular sheet of patterned paper...it was mocking me for a while so I had to chop it up...lol...play along with us, will you?

#65 - cut and paste

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is "cut and paste" - using dies and stencils - but no stamping...I die cut this flower out of foam along with the words, but cut out a second one in cardstock to paint over with water colours as a stencil...then glammed it up a little with some wink of stella sparkly ink...play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to make a matchbook or matchbox for your project...I made this one to hold a gift certificate...it is too small for a gift card but our lss still gives out certificates so I can use it for that as a gift for someone...plus it was fun to use frogs for no real reason...play along with us, will you?

#56 - inspired by your bedding

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use your bedding as inspiration for a card...I couldn't get a picture of my bed without my dog photobombing me, so this is the best I could do...but you get the idea...I think my background on the watercolour paper is almost an exact match (mostly by fluke, but I was impressed with myself nonetheless)...play along will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use an image of something that can be found in the garden...I chose birds and flowers...I made this card as a special request for a birthday for someone who loves humming birds...I tried to get the colouring to have a 3-d effect...but the picture is poor - it has been raining and dark here all day...sorry about that.

This week's challenge for Shopping our Stash is to use a dress or a dress form in your project...I love this image and think that the sentiment is great, so I had to combine the two to make a sassy birthday card for someone...play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to make a polaroid scene - I made this card for my girls to give to one of their most favorite and respected dance teachers...she is 76 and needed a hip replacement...she still teaches irish dance with vigor and energy....and will be back in her tap shoes in September to keep on teaching...play along, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is an elements challenge - earth, wind, water and or fire...I chose wind with the swings but added in water for the technique...I have been playing with watercolour in different ways lately and I am trying to get a few techniques down pat...not finding I am very good at it, but it is fun either way...the first card is with colourburst and the second is with distress ink pads...play along with us, will you?

Sounds of the sea - #41 to #47

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is the sounds of the Sea - doing projects with oceans, seaside and beachy themes, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to whip up a few pages from our last vacation.  I had to get them done in preparation for our next vacation that is coming up in August.  I haven't done a scrapbook page in ages and once I got started I just couldn't stop....play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is April showers bring May flowers...use umbrellas, flowers, rain etc in your project...I cut this rose out of fun foam and played a bit with watercolour and stickles...lots of fun to do...play along with us, will you?
