Ok guys, you know the drill: hop in the comments below to:
  • discuss Villanelle's Look(tm) this episode
  • that toilet brush call-back, huh
  • gotta say I didn't love this one so I'm struggling to squee here
  • why did so many annoying dudes get so much airtime this week
  • although I AM excited about the introduction of a new character, as-yet faceless, who might be an important foil for someone we care about???
(as always, spoilers in the comments!)

All this. :( Plus I really miss Elena. If they're taking away Elena, I want another awesome woman.

Personally I didn’t mind seeing Villainelle struggle and not being the dominant/controlling one, and while Julian was definitely creepy I was glad when she managed to kill him. But honestly, I think the fact that Villainelle was stabbed pretty badly made her vulnerable, so it made sense to me that she’s not at the top of her game.

That being said, I totally agree with her on the new MI6 lady, she seems cool and sharp but we didn’t really get any sense of her and don’t get me stranded on the Oxford guy. Why did they get rid of Elena?! I really miss her.

I totally agree with you! I loved s1 so much because sure there was violence, and some of it was against women, but they didn't make us watch that creepy rapey type of violence. Seeing Villanelle so helpless (with Julian and with her new handler) was super disappointing. Even just in the hospital it felt like she had more agency.

Same with the new guy.... Yeah, Eve called him out for interrupting her, but what if they just didn't write a character that would interrupt her!

I loved this episode! My favourite part was Villanelle being so desperate she called MI6 and asked for Eve. Like DAMN, she really did that.

I posted some more thoughts on my journal here.

I'm not a fan of that whole let's-weaken-then-threaten-strong-female-characters-with-rape trope. I can do without that.

But, I'm glad Konstantin is back. I just love him and his relationship with Villanelle.

Yes, the guy in the car on top of all that with Julian was just gross. A deranged would-be-mom figure would have been perfectly bizarre and fit in with this show so well. But we got that tired old noise instead. :/

I really enjoyed this ep! More than the premiere. Although I kept cringing in the beginning of Villanelle's plot but once that guy was revealed to be a creeper then I was into it and also cooler with him inevitably being murdered, lol. Villanelle is so on top of her shit most of the time (even while injured) and I enjoy seeing her vulnerable as she was in this episode.

I did find it kinda cheesy that Eve didn't glance at the car window driving right past her. Also I don't really like the new preppy guy on the investigation team. Less of the whole rest of the MI6 people and more of Caroline tbh.

I really liked this episode. I might be in the minority but I didn’t mind seeing a vulnerable Villainelle - in my mind it made sense seeing as she got stabbed badly that she wouldn’t be totally on the top of her game. Add to that the fact that she has no money or supplies, she did the best with what she had and she totally misread Julian. I’m was totally glad when she finally killed Julian with a knitting needle. That being said I can see why people aren’t a fan of it.

While I was so happy to see Kenny, I’m not super keen on Eve’s new team! I miss Elena (and Bill!). That being said, I’m intrigued by this new assassin and seeing how this will impact the dynamics between Eve and Villainelle.

Also, I was happy to see Konstantin back not only because of his relationship with Villainelle, but I’m intrigued by his relationship with Carolyn. Not sure if anyone else has had this theory, but in season 1 when Carolyn didnt day who Kenny was to her, made me wonder if Konstantin is his real father.

I'm not sure how I feel about the introduction of a new female assassin! I thought the direction the show was going to go in for season 2 would be more focused on the Eve/Villanelle relationship, continuing the cat and mouse game, not on Eve's role as an investigator of female spies in general. (I don't think she'll be interested in this new "ghost" woman like she is in Villanelle; I wouldn't find that very compelling or in character.) I wonder if at some point in the next few episodes she'll break from the team to keep going after Villanelle on her own? But then why would they go to the trouble of introducing those 2 new coworker characters if Eve was just going to go her own way..... I know this is kind of rambly but I'm just thinking a lot about if the show is going to have Eve become more focused on the mystery of the 12 to such an extent that they forget about her special relationship with Villanelle and whatever attraction there is between them. I definitely have my shipper goggles on, but...
