Apparently Samsung S7 (as many other models) is waterproof. Which proved to be true today. I was enjoying a nice boat ride with my hubby, and as I was stepping out of the boat onto the dock, I dropped my phone into the lake. Which is maybe 160cm deep where the phone fell. (5feet 3inches or something like that) So I just stripped and went into the water and fished the phone up with my toes :D And yeah, it was working just fine, like it wasn't wet and dripping at all. Still, let me tell you, it was a BAD feeling seeing it sinking there. Going to buy one of those floating phone bags before the next boat ride...

Okay, that is actually not all I got (books at the British Museum were too nice to resist), but it IS what I care about the most. Yes, fangirling hard at my old age :D
The play itself was dark, disturbing, over the top, and also really funny. I don't regret going one little bit. Nope.

I think my daughter might have just made the prettiest gingerbread cookie I have ever seen.

Winter

This winter has been snowier than in years, where I live. There hasn't been a huge amount of snow, but it has been consistently snowy, which I love. It makes the dark months lighter. The only thing I do not fancy it for is driving. You have to always "dig" the car from under the snow, and the roads can be icy. But otherwise "Yay!" for snow.
We've been also enjoying feeding the birds and watching them. We put the bird feeder behind our kitchen window, and it's SO nice to sit there in the morning, having breakfast and watching the birds and the couple of squirrels that also like the sunflower seeds we give them.

As nice as this is, I am also missing summer and swimming in the lake we have nearby. It's maybe 80 meters from our house, and this year I swam from May to October. Yes, it was very cold in the beginning and the end, but I still enjoyed it :D This is how lush and green it looks there in July.

Now I am waiting my whole family to come here for Christmas time. I love seeing them all, although it will be interesting to feed 12 to 16 people every day...
At least I won't have to do it alone, though, so it'll be fine.
I hope everyone is having a great winter, no matter where you are <3

I have always been extremely afraid of spiders. I would say it has been close to a real phobia. Even the smallest of spiders sent me screaming away.

Well, we moved to the countryside, more or less, in last May, and now we have this whole garden/yard/woods around our house. We have berries growing in bushes and apples in trees, all that jazz. I have been picking the berries a lot, making some blackcurrant juice and putting the rest of the berries in the freezer for the winter. Well, as you can guess, there are bugs out there, a lot of them, and spiders. Webs all over the berry bushes and such.

And yes, somehow I have been kind of getting rid of my fear. I don't panic right away if I see a spider somewhere, although I do quickly find a way to kill it...

Today I was picking raspberries, and there honestly were eight spiders in the bowl I was putting the berries in, at different times of course. And I just calmly either squished them against the bowl or lured them out with twigs and threw them away. No panic, no nothing. I'm pretty proud of myself, and kind of surprised. I still get the "eww spider someone please kill that" feeling, if I see a bigger one, but at least I can now deal with the smaller ones. Thumbs up for me :D

I hate moving so, so, so much. I've been packing and throwing things away, and there seems to be no end to it. *sigh*
The moving day is this Friday, and then we have two days to get our current place cleaned up. I don't even want to think how long it'll take to unpack everything at the new house, but I bet I'll still be trying to find places to all the things next July...
Also, it keeps hailing here at random almost every day, when it's otherwise sunny and looks like spring. Weird.
Well, if I survive this move without losing my mind, I'll congratulate myself SO much. There will be chocolate.

[Error: unknown template qotd]Depends on the company I'm in. If I know they are either interested in grammar or don't mind the correction, I might say something. Usually, however, I do keep my mouth shut, because I understand them anyway, so why possibly insult anyone.
In English I usually notice the most common mistakes, and the one that bugs me the most is "should of" instead of "should've." In Finnish it always catches my eye when people write "kumpa" or "niimpä", when the correct way is "kunpa" and "niinpä." Yeah, I suppose I am a grammar nazi...

Plans

Hotel and flights booked. Looks like we'll really be visiting London again this spring :) This time I'm going with my daughter and her friend, because this is my daughter's reward for finishing her school well.
A few days of shopping, musicals and some sights. And maybe I'll meet up with an internet friend, who lives near London. That would be really nice.

[Error: unknown template qotd]My first best friend was born just six days before me, our moms knew each other, her grandma took care of us when we were little, and we're still friends. So we've always known each other, and we've never lost the friendship, which is pretty unbelievable and also amazing :)

My Brother and his wife got their first baby today. My newest nephew is called Benjamin, and he is SO cute <3

Anni ([livejournal.com profile] framedinlove),

This guy that I know you have a close relationship with ;)

thorin

Whom do you think he would like more to hang out with?

Let me know, and when they come out, I'll get you one. I hope you are having a good day, and that the spring and summer won't be too hot... :)

I finished the socks for [livejournal.com profile] ranmaru_fics and will post them hopefully today. They are very green, as she wanted, for St. Patrick's Day. I really wasn't able to get the true green to show in the picture, no matter where I tried, so the colour is a bit more brighter than in the pic. I hope you like them :)

And I also knitted a new slouchy for myself. I absolutely LOVE the yarn. It's called Folksong Chunky, and the colours are like made for me. Teddy was my model today, because taking selfies of a slouchy really is... almost impossible, and the kids aren't at home at the moment. So here's Teddy:

Happy February to everyone, since it's almost here :)

And the winner of the sock-giveaway is... [livejournal.com profile] ranmaru_fics !
Congrats to you :)
Send me a private message about your desired color scheme, shoe size and other possible details.

Better luck next time to everyone else. Yes, there will be a next time ;)

(Ja Laura, sulle voin ne mustat sukat tehdä ihan muutenkin vaan. Mikä se kengän koko oli?)

Yeah, I've been busy with the knitting needles again. Mostly knitting socks for myself :D

And because I had leftover yarn from the green socks, I made a baby hat. I thought it would be unisex, since green is... a unisex color? But the lace of course turned it into a totally girly hat. Now, one of my friends is pregnant, and my sister-in-law is pregnant, so one of them is BOUND to have a girl, right? If not, I can just donate it somewhere, I guess.

This happy is because my brother is going to have a baby :) They've been married for a year, and had apparently tried for a couple of months, and now they're very much pregnant. I'll have a new niece or nephew, and I get to knit cute little things for her/him! Happyhappyjoyjoy indeed :D

It is way too hot here, for me that is. When the temperature hits 30 C, all I want to do, is sit in a cool shower. Which I can't do, because I would be a wrinkly blob, and our water bill would be huge :(
Also, I'm trying to keep my tomato plant alive, and now I need to water it a lot, and I'm prone to forgetting it usually. Now I can't slip up, or bye-bye sweet little tomatoes... I so want you.

For Laura ( [livejournal.com profile] obvmluver ), job well done! So happy for you :)

Hey, you all :) It's spring, which is sort of nice, although I don't enjoy the waking of the bugs at all... Or all the dust in the air. But still not complaining.
Saara wanted a spring/summer hat thingy, and this is what I made. Also, she now has pink hair :D

20042013375

She also wanted thin socks, and I found a fairly difficult pattern. They look a bit funky, because she pulled them over the jeggings, but you get the general idea anyway, I think.

And as a nice ending, this is a gingerbread tree Saara made. Doesn't look Christmassy at all, when you use these colours. I love it, and I wish I could eat it, but it's a price for a raffle...
