I'm a well-rounded geek who sporadically writes fanfiction, usually finds fandom fascinating (sometimes morbidly), and freelances in the manga industry. (Want to see what I've worked on? Look here! The list isn't always up to date, but it gives an idea.)

Summer 2019 found me suddenly very caught up in the magic of the Guardian c-drama (months and months behind lots of people I know), and it's been my primary fandom since then. I haven't yet seen many other dramas (but I have a list!), but I'm loving all the enthusiasm in the corners of the c-novels/drama fandom(s) I've seen.

For about seven years prior to Guardian, Mira Grant's Newsflesh trilogy was my primary fandom. It was my first time being in a small fandom, and I can't say I liked that part of the experience, so I spent those years doing the fannish equivalent of standing on street corners and handing out copies of Feed in hopes of introducing more people to the awesomeness incarnate of Georgia Mason. (The street corners are metaphorical. The copies of Feed are not.)

I'm married, Canadian, and have hit my mid-40s. Pronouns: she/her. I run Kubuntu Linux with sysadmin help from my spouse, and our household's computers are a fine example of my habit of naming inanimate objects. For anyone familiar with the Enneagram, I'm an introverted 4w5.

My non-manga-based fic (right now that means Guardian, Newsflesh, and Warehouse 13) is not on my site, but it can all be found over at Archive of Our Own.

Note for podficcers (italicized text modified from helens78's permissions statement):

If you ever need to change words/omit dialogue tags/add dialogue tags/bend, fold, spindle or punch holes in one of my fics for better podficcing purposes, please do so at will!

This is tricky work that deserves recognition, so I would really dig it if you mentioned it in notes, wherever you would normally have notes: "this fic is by [author] with (additions/alterations/ease-of-podfic transformations/contributions/however you want to describe it) by [your name]", or "adapted for podfic by [you] from a work by [author]" or whatever -- whether that's in your post or in the "headers" in the podfic.

Pronunciation notes: "umadoshi" follows Japanese pronunciation rules (roughly "ooh-mah-doh-shi"). "Ysabet" is pronounced "ee-sah-bet", or as I say IRL, "like 'Lisa' with no L, plus 'bet' like you're gambling".
