Setting a Trap:

Once they were airborne, Seto called Miranda to find out what calls had come in and if there were any problems to deal with, only to look completely disgusted as he rang off.

"What's the matter?" Anzu asked, worrying that it might be something bad.

"Oh just that apparently Stevens thought that whilst the cat was away, the mouse could do what the hell it liked." At Anzu's quizzical look he continued. "He's been hanging around and pestering her for a date. She's threatening to leave if he doesn't back off, but we don't have any *real* evidence of his wrongdoing because security informed her that the CCTV appears to malfunction when he does it, which makes things much, much worse. They are looking for the breach, but that doesn't help us in the meantime."

"And with him being a lawyer, without that evidence he'll be the first to sue for wrongful dismissal, right?" Anzu finished for him. "Hmmm... well he's never met me, has he?" She said, a smirk upon her face.

"What do you have in mind?" Seto asked, giving Anzu a wary look.

"You'll need to get Miranda in on it, but this is what we should do..."

It was a couple of hours later that a young woman with her hair in a high ponytail and wearing glasses wandered into the reception area outside Seto Kaiba's office. She crossed to the receptionist, where she introduced herself.

"Hello, I'm Tea Gardener, here to see Seto Kaiba?"

"Oh, you're Tea," Miranda said, rising from her desk and shaking her hand. "It's good to meet you." She sat back down again. "Unfortunately Mr. Kaiba isn't in his office right now, but you are free to wait if you wish?"

"It is quite important, so I will wait," Anzu said, settling herself on a chair over from Miranda.

"Would you like a coffee whilst you wait?" Miranda asked, rising from her desk once again.

"Oh, that would be lovely," Anzu said with a smile. "Straight black will be fine."

So far, so good. Now they just needed to wait for Jared Stevens to show up. If the reports and the rumours were correct, he would not be able to resist trying to chat Anzu up. Security had made sure to obtain a separate feed from the CCTV and Anzu also had the backup of a small camera concealed in a brooch, which they would be watching and recording the feed from.

The two women made small talk, but they didn't have to wait very long until the lift dinged and the door opened. Anzu tensed for a moment, thinking that it might be Kaiba, that he had not been able to wait for the trap to be sprung, but no, it was indeed Jared Stevens, obviously here to try his luck once again.

"Miranda my dear," he began, "have you thought about my offer yet?"

"Mr. Stevens," Miranda said in the most professional voice she could muster, "I have already said no. I am getting married in less than a week and I have no intention of cheating on my fiance."

"Oh, that’s a shame." Stevens said distractedly, his eyes now having alighted upon Anzu. "Oh hello, and what's your name."

"My name is Tea," Anzu said shyly. "I'm here to see Mr. Kaiba. Do you think he will be back soon?"

"I think he'll be a while yet," Stevens said. "You can come and wait in my office if you'd like. Or maybe I can take you for a drink whilst you are waiting?"

"No thank you, I'm happy to wait right here," Anzu said shyly again.

"No, I insist. In fact I would like to take you to dinner. What do you say?"

"No," Anzu said, starting to become annoyed now. The man was moving into her personal space, making her feel very uncomfortable. "Can you move away from me please," She said coolly.

"Why, what's the matter, am I too much of a man for you?"

Fucking hell he was a cocky asshole. "I'm a married woman," she said crossly, "and I am not interested in cheating on my husband."

"I bet he's not half the man I am," Stevens said.

"Mr. Stevens, if you do not stop this right now, you will be very sorry," Anzu said. And not just because Kaiba would fire him, but because she would punch his fucking lights out. He may have been good looking and a hot shot lawyer by all accounts, but he had quite a sleazy personality and that would be a real turn off even if she wasn't married. "You don't know who I am or who I am married to, but you are assuming that I will risk my marriage for whatever tawdry thing it is you are suggesting?"

"Well, there's no need to be like that, you frigid bitch," Stevens said, stepping away. Then he leered over at Miranda. "And you remember what I told you about running to Mr. Kaiba, got it?"

Anzu had had enough. She knew that Seto would be on his way up now with his security and with the head of the Legal department to make sure that this was sorted out with the minimum of fuss. But she could not sit by and let Stevens threaten the female staff any longer. She pulled her hair out of the ponytail and removed the glasses.

"Mr Stevens, she won't need to run to Seto, because he already knows about what you have been doing," Anzu said, bringing his attention back onto her. He stopped dead. "You do know who I am now don't you?" she said with some satisfaction.

His eyes narrowed speculatively. "Yes, you are the scheming gold digger that only married Mr Kaiba for his money," he said. "Of course, if you get rid of me then you'll get free reign..."

Anzu laughed in his face. "Wow, you really think you have that much power?" Anzu said. "And if you knew anything about me at all then you would know that Seto has known me since we went to school together and he knows I would not do that to him."

"Oh come off it," Stevens scoffed. "All you women are good for are casual flings. Otherwise you sink your grubby claws into the money and you take us men for everything we've got."

"Well!" Miranda sounded scandalised, "Just because some woman has treated you badly, there's no need to tar us all with the same brush! Is that why you are trying to get me to cheat on my fiance? Because you are trying to 'save' him? You are low. You are despicable and it's no wonder that no woman will go near you despite all your so called 'charm'. They must all sense how much you don't trust a single one of us."

"She's right you know," Anzu said. "I don't tend to buy into many Americanisms, but in this case I think you should probably get some therapy."

"Wow, you think you have me so worked out, don't you," Stevens said. "You have no idea what you are talking about."

"Oh, I'd say we do," Anzu shrugged, "besides, you just did the exact same thing to us – and every other woman you have been harassing in this place."

"It's of no matter," Stevens said. "You will not get your hands on Mr. Kaiba's money, I will make sure of it." He was being quite threatening now, standing over Anzu in a very intimidating way.

"And how do you intend to do that, Stevens?" Kaiba said from the doorway.

"Oh, Mr. Kaiba!" Stevens sprang away from Anzu. "It's nothing, just a little misunderstanding."

"Bullshit," Anzu spat, making everyone in the room boggle. None of them had expected her to use language like that. "You were spouting off about how all women were gold diggers and you were being very threatening just before Seto came in."

"I saw that," Seto said grimly. "Stevens, get into my office, now."

Stevens looked at the grim look on Kaiba's face and thought better than to argue. He walked into the office, the security that Kaiba had brought up following him, leaving Kaiba alone with Miranda and Anzu.

"Are you both alright?" he asked.

"Yes, thank you Mr. Kaiba," Miranda said.

"I'm fine Seto," Anzu said. "That sleaze was nothing I couldn't handle."

"Good," Seto said. "Now the question is... what should I do with him?"

"You can't just sack him?" Anzu asked surprised.

"Mr. Kaiba," Miranda spoke up, "I just want to say that I'm not prepared to put up with him harassing me any more so if you can't get rid of him, I'll have no alternative but to hand in my notice."

"Yes, he absolutely does have to go," Seto sighed. "He is really good at what he does – when he's not messing around on company time, and I know that whatever happens now we will probably end up in court, so it might as well be on my terms..."

"Good!" Anzu exclaimed. "You can't let the creep get away with it. He's been pushing boundaries and he's let it be known exactly what he thinks of women, and he's probably been messing with the security feed. Who knows what he may do next if he's allowed to get away with it this time? He's a serial sexual harasser, probably about to cross the line to abuser if he hasn't already, and to keep him on could bring Kaiba Corporation into disrepute!"

"You make a very good point," Seto conceeded. "Let me deal with him and I'll make sure he will not harass you again, Miranda, either on or off the premises."

"Thank you Mr. Kaiba." Miranda said. "I don't want to leave this job, but if he will insist on harassing me then I shall really have no choice."

"It won't come to that," Seto said. He turned to Anzu, "You don't mind me leaving you here do you? Normally I wouldn't, but I really need to deal with this personally."

"No, it's fine," Anzu said, "but... what shall I do for now?"

"Hmm," he considered. "Miranda, can you show Anzu up to the apartment please? Stay up there a while if you like, take a break and I'll call you once he's gone."

"Yes Mr. Kaiba, thank you," Miranda said.

Kaiba pulled a key card out of his pocket and passed it to Anzu. "Keep hold of this so you can get in and out as you like."

"Thanks Seto," Anzu said, leaning up and giving him a peck on the cheek. "Lead the way, Miranda."

Once they were gone, Miranda having left with visible relief, Seto put on his hard persona and stalked into his office.

It was time to deal with Stevens.
