This is another adventure found in another issue Batman: Gotham Adventures from the world of the beloved Batman Animated series from the 1990s.  I love these issues from this series!  My kids tend to not like stories involving Mr. Freeze but I thought this one exceeded our expectation.

Want to read an adventure of Batman that takes place outside of Gotham?  We typically think of Batman as the guardian of Gotham City.  But in this adventure it takes place largely elsewhere away from Gotham; actually it even reaches other dimensions and time and space!  This is a unique story written by Brian Michael Bendis.  I have seen that name around before in the world of comics although this is the first of his works I have read by him.

I love the Batman Animated series from the 1990s and this series are comics from that world.  I love this comic series for it being clean, which kids can enjoy and also adults who are nostalgic for the 90s animated series.  Here in the forty eighth issue of Batman: Gotham Adventures the story is titled “Think Fast.”  It involves Robin talking to Alfred the Butler about Batman being a hero but also being so impersonal.

Want to read a story of the young Bruce Wayne (Batman) in his teen days, before he became Batman?  This is a fun story involving Bruce Wayne trying to cope with his identity in light of his parents’ death, his relationship with Alfred and his fellow peers and also with criminals.  It isn’t part of the regular comic book issues from DC but it is a graphic novel meant for teenagers and preteens.  I was hesitant at first to read this because of that but it turned out to be better than expected and all my kids liked this book as well.

This was a fun issue to read from Batman: Gotham Adventures that is based upon the Batman animated series in the 90s (which I think is the best version of Batman ever on screen, even compared to the movies).  Here in this issue the focus is on Robin who is upset with Batman because when Nightwing got electrocuted by Two Face, Batman leaves Robin to save Nightwing’s life.  Robin is embittered thinking Batman doesn’t care about anybody else until the story unfolds and Robin sees things in better and proper perspective about Batman and Batman’s trust in Robin.  I thought it was a good story and one that is relatable to real life where sometimes coming to age as an adult one realize one have been entrusted with responsibilities and the weight of that.  I thought it was a great story for my kids to learn even though we read it as a family for fun and not trying to make it a moralized lesson.  I give this a five out of five.

This is a Batman issue that takes place in the 90s Animated series world (which is probably the best Batman on the screen, whether animated or on film).  Here in this short issue we are introduced to a nice guy name Joe but who keep on getting caught up in bad with bad friends.  This happened again and again.  Joe is warned by Batman to find new friends so he doesn’t get in trouble.  Joe is a character that is simple, barely gets by and in some ways is rather foolish.  But will he do the right thing?  I like this short story and there’s a good positive twist.
