English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is free for all USask students who have an EAL background. We can support your listening, speaking (including pronunciation), and reading needs to help you meet your academic learning goals.

About appointments
General
You can discuss academic English grammar (including punctuation, vocabulary, verb tenses, and articles), academic reading and comprehension, communication skills for individuals and groups, speaking and pronunciation, presentation skills and techniques, active and efficient listening, and strategies for academic learning and transitioning into university.
USEAL personalized academic language coaching
Join the University of Saskatchewan English as an Additional Language learners (USEAL) academic language coaching program to learn practical tips to succeed in your university courses. The program includes up to 5 free 30-minute personalized 1-1 consultations with a supportive EAL specialist. Appointments may be in-person or online.
Customized coaching for presentations
Appointments with an EAL specialist can help you plan, prepare and practice for your upcoming presentations, including thesis and dissertation defenses and conference presentations. We will discuss how to tackle your oral presentations, work on pronunciation, or practice having conversations about an academic subject. Any academic subject is a welcome topic of conversation.
Speak and Connect
Speak and Connect: Conversation Circles
Join our weekly conversation circles to practice English or connect with other students. Conversation Circles are designed to help you practice and improve your English listening and speaking skills, including pronunciation, in a relaxed and supportive environment where you can discuss various topics, meet new people, and enhance your language abilities.English pronunciation and speaking
Participate in our interactive workshops to learn the basics of English pronunciation and strategies for speaking clearly and confidently in academic settings. This workshop series is designed for students who speak English as an Additional Language or students who have difficulty communicating effectively when speaking or presenting in English. Monthly Speak and Connect social events
Attend our monthly Speak and Connect social events to connect with other students. These events are centered around games and contemporary academic topics and allow you to practice listening and speaking in a stress-free and non-judgmental environment.
