Grad skills

Starting a new graduate program is exciting, but can also be a challenging transition. Don’t worry; your University Library is here to help. Our services and supports are designed to help you navigate the world of graduate school, from managing your time to preparing for comprehensive or qualifying exams. Participate in our peer-led workshops or explore our collection of online resources to help you succeed in your studies.

Research strategies

Develop your research skillset via our comprehensive programming and supports. Attend our workshops, explore our Research Guides, or make an appointment with your subject librarian to learn everything from searching for sources for your literature review to choosing a citation manager to discussing your research data management plan. We help all USask grad students to become more effective and engaged researchers, from course-based MA students to post-doctoral researchers

Writing and communication

Communicating clearly and effectively is essential for success in graduate school. Build confidence in your writing and language skills by exploring our wide range of programming, including workshops, special events, conversation circles, productivity sessions, and one-on-one appointments with writing tutors and learning specialists.

Academic integrity

Enrich your understanding of how honesty, integrity, and other ethical behaviour informs scholastic life. Learn about our shared responsibility to uphold principles of academic integrity, how Canadian copyright formally protects your work and the work of others, and how research ethics guide us as we conduct research involving controlled goods, animals, or humans.

Artificial intelligence

AI is rapidly transforming the graduate student experience, but must be used appropriately to maintain research standards and academic integrity. Questions about how to use AI tools ethically and effectively? Explore our resources to learn more about AI, its uses and limitations, and the importance of engaging with outputs critically.

Publishing

Find and assess publishers or journals, make your work open access, find waivers or discounts to pay open access article processing charges, understand and negotiate your rights as an author, and more.
