1. I definitely imagined the origami dinosaur being smaller than the lego dinosaur. But it was easier to find my scrapbooking paper than my origami paper, and that was bigger. It worked out fine!

2. I definitely also imagined making a different dinosaur. Maybe a stegosaurus! I looked at a few different youtube videos, but all of them seemed like they had the classic origami 'then do some magic' step more than once.

3. Then I found this one! Step by step with photos: Origami. How to Make a Dinosaur, by Mariapetro12. And also a youtube video: How to make a dinosaur out of paper.

4. It's a bit front-heavy, so I dropped a nickel in the back fold, and there's a paper clip holding the top together. And now it totally stands on its own, unless the cat knocks it over!

5. Since my paper was sort of light blue, and the neck and tail are REALLY long, it definitely came out looking like Champ, the Lake Champlain lake monster.

6. My absolute favorite part of the above Champ explainer page: "Although many people are skeptical of sightings, Champ is now protected by law on both sides of Lake Champlain, just in case."

Now it can be revealed!

Creators have been revealed for the Jukebox 2026 collection, so now I can reveal that I wrote three stories:

How Much You Wanna Risk?, based on Nikita Kuzmin and Vito Coppola's dance routine set to The Chainsmokers and Coldplay's Something Just Like This on Strictly Come Dancing. About 3.5k words, rated T (perhaps in an abundance of caution), an m/m teen romance set in a superhero universe.

After the War, based on Paul Simon's Rene and Georgette Magritte and Their Dog After the War. About 1k words, rated T. This has got original characters and an original apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic setting, f/f, f/m, and poly romance.

Tebald and the Star, based on Jared Benjamin's Believe it. About 2k words, rated M. A wizard's slave conspires with his master's latest acquisition for freedom and revenge. f/m.

Also, I received this gorgeous Art Nouveau style art:

Night Flight, based on Starling Arrow's Fly Away!

Now THIS is art. 😍

“When I first saw the original painting, I began to do some research on that little boy. I could find everything I wanted about every other detail in the painting, but there was nothing about him. No history. And so I wanted to find a way to imagine a life for this young man that the historical painting had never made space for in the composition: his desires, dreams, family, thoughts, hopes. Those things were never subjects that the original artist wanted the viewer to contemplate. In order to reframe the discussion, I decided to physically take action to quiet [and crumple] the side of the painting that we’ve been talking about for a very long time and turn up the volume on this kid’s story. And that’s the reason why I started that painting.”

you keep waiting for him, in feeble intimacy, to call you elim. the shri-tal was invitation enough. you’d chide him, no doubt. a bit of play. such human presumption! that a given name would engender softness…

but he never does call you elim. how…terribly clever of him. to not fall into that trap.

how terribly stupid of him to believe it to be one.

2) I managed to get the stain off my white linen skirt after much trying, I had feared I needed to consult a dry-clean

Every man is glad to stop looking for the truth when he’s handed a lie he likes better. Sorcerers are no different in that. [p. 129]

Ryo InGara is nineteen years old, a warrior of a nomadic tribe that dwells in the winter country. At the beginning of Tuyo, he's been left as a kind of sacrifice to the opposing army -- the Lau -- in a minor skirmish: he expects to be killed slowly and painfully, and it is a matter of honour that he meets his death bravely.

Instead, he finds himself given guest-right by his captor, Lord Aras Eren Samaura, who says that Ryo is more useful alive than dead.Read more... )

Age: very old. I was blogging on LJ before the Russians took over

I mostly post about:mental health, random thoughts - to be honest I haven't posted in a while

My hobbies are:video games (vintage story, hytale, valheim, coral island etc), theology, Irish language/history, tarot, virtual worlds and other things, depending on my mood

My fandoms are:Hannibal, Supernatural, Heated Rivalry, Doctor Who, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Hello Kitty

I'm looking to meet people who:are just real people who write about things they enjoy, are more than just their opinions, aren't swayed by just taglines and instead would rather learn about the hot topics than just react to them.

My posting schedule tends to be: sporadic AF

When I add people, my dealbreakers are:anti LGBTQ+, narrow minded right-wingers, antisemitism, antichristian/antireligion (not a dealbreaker as much as I just know we wouldn't mesh well)

Before adding me, you should know: I'm Canadian, she/her, raised Jewish, but practicing Christian (liberal, progressive, non-toxic), trying to be a follower of St. Francis , because he wasn't about church, or dogma, he just wanted to live what he thought was a good life. I am also a member of a few different Druid orders, 2nd Degree Gardnerian (no longer practicing), was previously poly but now in a monogamous relationship, still raising kids, and I have multiple rescue animals. non-drinker, ADHD diagnosed, currently estrogen deficient and sometimes very cranky XD

* Kraken are going to have the most travel time by a chunk this year. Also, we are heavily front-loaded with divisional games. Hopefully, its manageable and the individual games are well spaced. The amount of roadie back-to-backs last year sucked.

* Still waiting for the contracts to pop for Melanson, Prokop and Tolvanen. Melly is RFA so I am not worried, but it's weird he'd unsigned at this point.

* Since Dunn and Canner are in promo images for the Kraken season opener, I assume that it would be a violation of hockey laws to trade them between them and now, so I can stop worrying.

How has it been ten days since I last posted?

This is the fastest summer on record.

It's been hot and humid, and now the air is filled with smoke as well. Going outside is awful, but I guess the good news is that I don't really have to, much.

Last weekend we went up to the top of the bluff on Saturday to enjoy the view, after doing some shopping downtown. On Sunday, we went on a little day trip to a cute little town an hour or so away where our favorite breakfast spot is at. There's also a big indoor market made up of individual seller stalls, and a big old hollowed out factory that was turned into a used book shop. It's kind of a famous book shop, and I'd been excited to go since moving here, but unfortunately there is no AC in there and so it was too miserable to browse for long.

On Tuesday, since I was so disappointed about missing out on getting to fully enjoy the big book shop, I went out while Blair was at work and poked around in our little local indie one. Found a couple of books. Had lunch. It was nice!

Also this past week, I got my hair cut. Feels much better, especially since my head is less hot.

Yesterday and today were just really lazy days. Well, yesterday I worked, but after that we chilled at home. Watched not one, but two movies (Be My Cat, which was bizarre, and Alone which was fine). Today we slept in, got some drinks at Moka, hit up a local bakery and then bought a nerite snail from the aquatics shop for our betta tank. So far Bracca is getting along with him alright.

Not looking forward to work tomorrow, but I will soldier on.

Re-watched Project Hail Mary late last night/early this morning. Man, I love that movie. I like, hover on the fringes of the fandom without participating, but I love it so much. I also finally started in on The Vampire Lestat. I know I'm running a little late, but I'm here now and I'll catch up.

Getting a good grade in dog training!

Image

Gold star for Daphne, making so much progress in one week that she can actually sit and wait quietly for instruction (sometimes)! And gold star for the trainer, who has gotten us on the path to confidence with patience, treats, and reasonable goals.

♥ Milestones this week include letting a neighbor walk her, and letting another neighbor come into our house.

♥ Homework for next week includes practicing "look" and "quiet," and holding eye contact for ten seconds.
