Call for Communities to Exhibit at the PyCon JP 2026 Community Booths

Hello, this is Makino from the PyCon JP 2026 Program Team.

At PyCon JP 2026, we would like to create even more opportunities for communities to connect with one another and with conference participants.

As a new initiative this year, we are introducing a special area at the venue: Community Booths!

Instead of poster presentations, communities will be able to exhibit at booths and interact directly with participants.

Each booth will be provided with a table and chairs. We hope this will become a place where people can enjoy conversations, ask questions, share experiences, and build connections that continue even after the conference.

What Can You Do at a Community Booth?

• Introduce your community’s regular activities or demonstrate OSS projects you are developing
• Share ideas and discuss questions such as “How do you run your community?”
• Enjoy casual conversations about Python and community activities

If your community would like to let more people know about your activities, meet new members, or connect with communities from other regions or fields, we warmly encourage you to apply!

About Applications

We are now looking for communities to exhibit at the Community Booths. Applications from local communities in Japan are very welcome, and we also warmly welcome applications from overseas communities. The application form is available in both Japanese and English.

Eligible Communities

Eligible communities are those that are involved in Python-related activities and have a record of ongoing activities such as study groups, collaborative development or OSS development.

Please note that newly formed groups that only have future activity plans and do not yet have any activity record are not eligible.

Important Notes

• Exhibitors at the Community Booths are required to purchase a ticket for PyCon JP 2026. Even if your booth application is accepted, all exhibitors must purchase conference tickets.
• If we receive a large number of applications, exhibitors may be selected by lottery. We appreciate your understanding.
• We are planning to set “core times” during the conference. These will be time slots when participants are especially likely to visit the booth area, such as lunch breaks or coffee breaks.
• During the planned core times, we kindly ask that at least one community member be present at the booth whenever possible, so that participants can enjoy interacting with your community.

Carol Willing

キャロル・ウィリング氏は、Python ステアリングコミッティのメンバーを3期務め、Python コアデベロッパー、PSF（Python Software Foundation）フェロー、そして Project Jupyter のコアコントリビューターとしても第一線で活躍されています。20年以上にわたり、ソフトウェアやエレクトロニクスの開発に情熱を注ぐ傍ら、多くの人々がテクノロジーをそれぞれの関心事と結びつけられるよう、インスピレーションを与え続けてきました。これまでの多大なる貢献により、Python Community Service Award や Frank Willison Award を受賞。さらに Jupyter コアチームのメンバーとして、その永続的な功績が評価され、権威ある ACM ソフトウェアシステム賞を受賞されています。

また、キャロル氏はオープンソース・ガバナンスおよびオープンサイエンスの分野における極めて熱心なリーダーでもあります。現在は Quansight Labs アドバイザリーボードおよび pyOpenSci アドバイザリーボードのメンバーを務め、オープンツールや教材を通じて、誰もがオープンサイエンスにアクセスできる環境づくりを推進しています。同時に、地域コミュニティの活動も精力的にサポートしており、PyLadies San Diego や San Diego Python User Group の共同主催者としても地域に貢献されています。

PyCon JP 2026 キーノートスピーカー：北尾 崇氏のご紹介

Takashi Kitao

北尾氏は、Python 向けのオープンソース・ゲームエンジン「Pyxel」の開発者です。「気軽に楽しくプログラミング」をコンセプトに作られた Pyxel は、現在、世界49カ国・1万人以上が参加するプログラミングイベント「Nuit du Code」に採用されるなど、教育の場でも世界中で幅広く愛されています。さらに Steam で配信されるインディゲーム開発にも活用されており、国内外のクリエイターに刺激を与え続けています。

また、北尾氏は元ゲーム開発者でもあり、コナミ在籍時には『ZONE OF THE ENDERS』シリーズのメインプログラマーとゲームデザインを担当された経歴を持ちます。現在はソニー株式会社 技術開発研究所にて、XR と AI の研究開発という最先端の分野に従事されています。また、『ゲームで学ぶ Python！ Pyxel ではじめるレトロゲームプログラミング』（技術評論社）も執筆されています。

Carol Willing

Carol Willing is a three-time Python Steering Council member, a Python Core Developer, a PSF Fellow, and a Project Jupyter core contributor. For over twenty years, she has enjoyed developing software and electronics while inspiring others to blend technology with their unique interests. Her exceptional work has been recognized with the Python Community Service Award, the Frank Willison Award, and as a member of the Jupyter core team, the prestigious ACM Software System Award for Project Jupyter’s lasting influence.

Carol is a deeply dedicated leader in open-source governance and open science, serving on both the Quansight Labs Advisory Board and the pyOpenSci Advisory Board. She is driven to make open science accessible through open tools and learning materials, and actively supports Python communities, including as co-organizer for PyLadies San Diego and the San Diego Python User Group.

PyCon JP 2026 コミュニティブース出展コミュニティ募集のお知らせ

こんにちは！PyCon JP 2026 プログラムチームです。

PyCon JP 2026 では、コミュニティ同士、そして参加者の皆さんとのつながりを、これまで以上に深めていきたいと考えています。

そこで今年は、新たな試みとして、会場内に特別エリア「コミュニティブース」を新設します！

ポスター展示に代わり、各コミュニティにブースを出展いただき、参加者と直接交流できる形式で実施します。

各ブースには、机・椅子をご用意します。立ち話や相談、体験共有などを通じて、対話と交流を深め、カンファレンス後にも続くつながりが生まれる場になればと考えています。

ブースでできることの例

• 普段の活動紹介や、開発しているOSSのデモ実演
• 「コミュニティ運営どうしてる？」などのお悩み相談
• Pythonやコミュニティ活動についての気軽な交流

出展いただくコミュニティの皆さまには、会期中に設定される「コアタイム」へのご協力をお願いする予定です。コアタイムは、ランチ休憩やコーヒーブレイクなど、参加者がブースを訪れやすい時間帯を想定しています。この時間帯には、できるだけコミュニティメンバーのどなたかがブースに滞在し、参加者との交流を楽しんでいただけますと嬉しいです。

「自分たちの活動をもっと知ってほしい！」「新しい仲間に出会いたい！」「他の地域や分野のコミュニティとつながりたい！」というコミュニティの皆さん、ぜひご参加ください。

現在、コミュニティブースに出展いただけるコミュニティを募集しています。日本のローカルコミュニティはもちろん、海外からの応募も大歓迎です。応募フォームは日本語・英語の両方に対応しています。

対象となるのは、Pythonに関連する活動を行っており、勉強会、もくもく会、OSS開発など、継続的な活動実績のあるコミュニティです。

なお、今後の活動予定のみで、まだ活動実績のない新規グループは対象外となります。

PyCon JP 2025のLTについて About PyCon JP 2025 Lightning Talks

PyCon JP 2025プログラムチームのヨナスです。

例年どおり、PyCon JP 2025 でも LTを行います。

LT は最長 5 分で行う発表で、テーマは Python に関わる人々が興味を持つ内容であれば自由です。自分で作ったものに限らず、学んだことや役立つと思うテクニックの紹介でも大歓迎です。スライドの使用は推奨ですが、必須ではありません。

LT はどなたでも発表できます。選んだテーマの専門家である必要はありません。参加者は多様なバックグラウンドを持っているため、自分では当たり前だと思っていることでも、新鮮で興味深いと感じる人が必ずいます。人前で話すのは緊張するかもしれませんが、みんな同じように緊張していること、発表を終えたときには大きな達成感を得られることを是非想像してみてください。

LTへの申込は当日会場で行います。会場に設置された箱と小さな用紙がありますので、発表タイトル・氏名・メールアドレスを記入し、箱に入れてください。メールで当落の連絡を行いますので、当日はメールを定期的に確認お願いします！

申込受付は、当日の受付開始時から、1日目は16:00まで、2日目は14:30まで行います。もしあなたの発表が選ばれた場合は、当日の締切後しばらくしてメールで通知されます。その際はすぐに返信して、発表の確定をしてください。そして発表当日は LT開始の10分前にステージ前までお越しください。

As is tradition, we will have time for lightning talks at PyCon JP 2025.

Lightning Talks are a maximum duration of 5 minutes on any topic of interest to other Python people. It doesn't have to be about something that you wrote, it can be something that you learned, or a technique you think other people will be interested in. Slides are encouraged, but not required!

You too can give a Lightning Talk! You don’t need to be an expert on the topic you chose. Since we have a diverse mix of attendees, there’s a high chance that even things you think are obvious or known to everyone are going to be new and interesting to some. While it may be scary to talk in front of people, keep in mind that we’re all friends at PyCon JP, everyone is nervous speaking in public and you will feel really accomplished after you’ve given your talk.

Signups for Lightning Talks will be done at the conference itself. There will be a box and small papers onto which you write your talk title, name and email address. Put the paper into the box and keep a close watch on your email inbox.

Submissions will be open from when registration opens on the day until 16:00 on day 1 and 14:30 on day 2. If your talk has been selected, you will get an email a short time after the deadline on the day to which you must respond quickly to confirm your selection. Then make your way to the front of the stage ten minutes before Lightning Talks start on that day.

このブログでは、Audience levelとPrior knowledges speakers assume the audience to haveについて説明します。

プロポーザルを提出する際にぜひ参考にしてください。

Audience level

Audience levelは聴衆がPythonにどのくらい詳しいかを表します。

あなたの想定している聴衆について、以下から一番近いものを選んでください：

• Beginner：PythonチュートリアルなどでPythonの文法や標準ライブラリの使い方を学んでいる
• Intermediate：Pythonチュートリアルを終え、サードパーティーライブラリを使って、Webアプリ開発、データ分析、自動化などのいずれかに取り組んでいる
• Advanced：Pythonを数年使っていて、パッケージを公開していたり、Pythonのパフォーマンスや内部実装に関心があったりする
• Expert：Python自体やよく知られたPythonライブラリに開発で貢献している

トークの方向性には、例えば以下の2つがあるでしょう。

1. 聴衆がすでに知っていることの理解がさらに深まるような情報を共有する（例：Beginnerに向けてPythonチュートリアルの特定のトピックを深堀りする）
2. 1つ上のレベルに進むための情報を共有する（例：Beginnerに対してIntermediateに進むために必要と考えることを共有）

Prior knowledges speakers assume the audience to have

あなたのプロポーザルにおいて、必要となる、もしくはあれば良いと思われる前提知識を書いてください。

例えば、あなたはドメイン駆動設計の経験が豊富で、Pythonでドメイン駆動設計という発表をしたいとします。この場合、ドメイン駆動設計の知識が必要、もしくはあったほうが良いのであればその旨を書いてください。必要となる前提知識の箇条書きでも可です。

I’m explaining some items on the proposal form this year. 

• Audience level

In this post, I'll explain "Audience level" and "Prior knowledges speakers assume the audience to have".
Please use this as a reference in submitting your proposal.

Audience level

"Audience level" means how familiar the audience is with Python.
Choose the one item below that most closely matches "Audience Python level" of your talk:

• Beginner: who are learning Python syntax and know how to use standard libraries through The Python Tutorial, and so on
• Intermediate: who has finished The Python Tutorial and work on such as web app development, data analytics, or automation, and so on, using third-party libraries
• Advanced: who have been using Python for a few years, have published a package, or are interested in Python performance or internal implementations
• Expert: who contribute in the development of Python itself and well-known Python libraries

For example, there would be two directions for the talk.

1. to share information which will help your audience to understand more deeply what they already know
2. to share information which will help your audience to go up their Python level to one level higher

Prior knowledges speakers assume the audience to have

Please write down in your proposal if there is prerequisite knowledge that you wish or need the audience to have.

For example, let’s say you have a lot of experience in Domain-Driven Design and you want to give a presentation on Domain-Driven Design in Python. In this case, if you think that the audience needs or should have knowledge of Domain-Driven Design to understand your presentation, please write about it. A bullet list of required prerequisite knowledge is also acceptable.

PyCon JP 2020 コンテンツチーム振り返り

皆さん、こんにちは。
PyCon JP 2020 コンテンツチームリーダーの二木（nikkie）です。

この投稿ではPyCon JP 2020を終え、コンテンツチームで活動したメンバー各自が振り返ったことを共有します。

 

 

コンテンツチームって、何よ

PyCon JP会期中のコンテンツをまとめる（＝カンファレンス当日の「中身」を創る）チームです。
2020はコンテンツとして以下を用意しました。

• キーノート（基調講演）：キーノート選定、打診、スピーカーコミュニケーション、同時通訳準備
• セッション：セッション募集、レビュー・採択連絡、スピーカーコミュニケーション、セッション準備
• 招待講演：招待講演選定、打診、スピーカーコミュニケーション
• チュートリアル：チュートリアル選定、打診、スピーカーコミュニケーション
• スプリント（コンテンツチーム外の有志に進めてもらいました）
  

準備期間の途中でオンライン開催に移行しましたが、コンテンツの量はオフライン開催と同じくらいで開催できました！

コンテンツチームをリードした
（プロポーザルやスピーカーとの連絡の大部分を担当。キーノートスピーカーとの連絡も引き継いで進めた）

オフラインと同程度のコンテンツの量でオンライン開催できたこと

P（問題だと思ったこと）（あれば、改善案）

1人でタスクを抱え込みすぎた。
タスク自体を終わらせることはできたが、スタッフへの周知まで手が回りきっていなかった。
1人でカンファレンスは回せない。
（改善案）1人で抱え込みすぎても持続可能性や再現性を欠くだけなので、一見非効率な進め方に思えても他のスタッフを巻き込んで進める。
また、スタッフが動ける範囲に合わせてカンファレンスの規模を見直し、スタッフのデスマーチを回避したい

招待講演を担当しました

オンライン開催でもオフライン開催の時以上の講演数を用意出来たこと

P（問題だと思ったこと）（あれば、改善案）

オフラインと同等かそれ以上の規模での招待講演にこだわりすぎた。
またチーム内での情報共有がうまく出来ていなかった。
nikkieさんも書いているがスタッフ(今回の場合私自身の)の動ける範囲で
コンテンツを用意する事が大事(場合によってはコンテンツの見送りも視野に入れた判断をする)

 

チュートリアル担当

 

コンテンツチームで何をやったか

主にチュートリアルを担当しました。

K（よかったこと）

オンラインでのチュートリアルを例年の半分の規模ながら開催し、成功させることができたということです。

P（問題だと思ったこと）（あれば、改善案）

私は企画はできるが実務になると急に危なっかしくなるところがありますが、今回のチュートリアルも一人であるが故にあやふやだったり先延ばししてしまったことがちょっとあったことでした。
それを途中から2人でしたことによりうまくできたという感じがあるので、一人で抱え込まずにコミュニケーションをとりながらあやふやなことを潰していければよいと思っています。

 

スピーカーコミュニケーションのヘルプ

 

コンテンツチームで何をやったか

トーク採択の連絡や、不採択者への連絡などをやりました。

K（よかったこと）

カンファレンス当日はChairをやりましたが、用意されていた台本の完成度が高くて、セッションの進行がスムーズにいけました

P（問題だと思ったこと）（あれば、改善案）

取りにいくタスクと自分の出来ることがマッチしているかいまいち分かりませんでした。

・改善案
各チームリーダーが今困っていること、具体的にどういうタスクをやってもらいたいかを細かく言うことが大切だと思います。僕自身もnikkieさんに声かけて頂いたり、アッキーさんに声かけて頂いたりしてお手伝いをしたと言う経緯があるので。それがJIRAの役割だと思いますが、慣れないツールを使って場を乱してしまうかも、という恐怖がまさってしまってました。

コンテンツチームで何をやったか

同時通訳業者さんとやり取りを行いました。

K (よかったこと)

・お互いの認識を合わせるために逐一質問メールを送れたこと

P（問題だと思ったこと）（あれば、改善案）

・eurieの使い方がわからず送ったメールが業者さんに送れていなかった事(nikkieさんありがとうございますmm)
・ツールの使用法に時間をかけてしまった。
・自分のタスクを消化しきれず、直前になって巻き取ってもらったこと

 

振り返りは以上です。
芝さんのキーノートでも引用されていましたが、「完璧を目指すよりまず終わらせ」たのが初のオンライン開催のPyCon JPだったと思います。
振り返りをして、次回以降につなげていきましょう。

PyCon JP 2020 ランチタイムセッションの紹介

 こんにちは。PyCon JP 2020 事務局チームの陶山です。

PyCon JPでは、毎年ランチタイムにお弁当を食べながら参加できるイベントとして、スポンサーの方々によるLTやパネルディスカッションを行っており、大変ご好評をいただいています。

オンライン開催となる今年のPyCon JPでもランチタイムまで楽しんでいただくためにパネルディスカッションを行うことにしました。

採択について

レビュアーは、レビュー観点に基づき、各プロポーザルを「採択すべき」「採択できる」「採択すべきでない」でレビューしています。
集計したレビューを元に採択mtgで議論して、採択するトークを決めます（待機リストに入れる＝補欠とするトークも決めます）

PyCon JP 2020のトークのプロポーザルの受付を終了しました。
どんなプロポーザルが多かったのでしょうか？
簡単に内訳を共有します。

応募総数は115本で、84名の方から応募いただきました。
ご応募、誠にありがとうございます。

今後のスケジュールですが、6月にレビューと採択会議を実施し、7月上旬に採択結果を発表予定です。

なお、100本を超えるプロポーザルをいただいたことを受け、レビュアーの応募を6/7(日)いっぱいまで延長します。
初のオンライン開催に向けて動くのと並行して、100件超えのプロポーザルをレビューするというのは、率直に言って、スタッフだけではなかなかに厳しいです。

この記事では、プロポーザルへの質問に回答します（質問フォーム）。

CfPの項目「Speaker biography」にはスピーカーの経歴を書くとのことですが、具体的にはどんなふうに書けば良いですか？

職務経歴書のように  2019/04~2020/01 株式会社○○ 2020/01~現在 株式会社△△  ではないと思うのですが  いまいち具体的に想像できず。
この項目はどんな目的で書くものなのかご教示いただけますか。
また、サンプルプロポーザルにこの項目が入っていなかったので具体的な例もご提示いただけたら幸いです。

発表者がどんな人物かを示すための項目です。

書き方は過去のプロポーザルが参考になると思います。
例えば2019年のプロポーザルをいくつか見てみてください（「詳細」から見られます）。

PyCon JP 2020のトークは、共同発表も可能です。
個人でも複数人でも発表できます。

This is an item to show what kind of person the speaker is.

You can give a presentation with co-speakers as well as yourself.

Please enter your co-speakers' email addresses in the form.

We will contact people whose proposals we have accepted to confirm their participation in the conference.

登壇方法について

PyCon JP 2020は、8/28（金）8/29（土）にオンラインにて開催いたします。
登壇の際の配信方法やツールについては後日追ってご連絡いたします。

オンライン開催に伴い、スピーカーの皆様には 【オンラインによるライブ配信】へのご協力をお願いしています。
こちらは PyCon JPのミッションである「Pythonユーザーが一堂に会する」といった観点からオンライン上で一堂に会し、登壇や質疑を通して知見を交換いただく機会とするためです。

オンライン登壇が初めての場合でも大丈夫です！
オンライン登壇への不安が解消できるよう私たち運営スタッフも全力を尽くします！

登壇に使うツールは運営スタッフで選定いたしますので、現地開催と同様にスライドと発表内容をご準備ください。
8月には、何回か発表のリハーサルを予定しています。

遠方の方は移動の必要なく登壇頂けるチャンスですので、ぜひチャレンジして頂きたいです！

In order to make it more certain for your talk proposal to be accepted, we recommend you to read the review perspectives blog post.

How would I give the presentation?

PyCon JP 2020 will be held online on Friday, August 28, and Saturday, August 29(JST).
We will inform our speakers of the methods and tools of streaming later.

We would like to ask the speakers for their cooperation in the live online broadcast.
Based on PyCon JP's mission "To bring Python users together", we'll be bringing them together online to share their knowledge and experiences through presentations, questions, and answers.

If you've never made a presentation online, please don't hesitate or be afraid.
We'll do everything we can for you not to worry about speaking online.

PyCon JP teams select the proper tools for live streaming.
All you need to do is to prepare your presentation and materials as you would at an on-site event.
We will have some rehearsals in August to make our first online event a success.

If you are far away from Japan, this is the opportunity to speak without minding the travel or visa-stuff, so we would like you to try this!

このブログでは、PyCon JP 2020のトークプロポーザルのレビューの観点を共有します。
なお、トークプロポーザルは https://sessionize.com/pyconjp2020/ にて、5/31(日)まで募集しています。

PyCon JP 2020 トークプロポーザル レビュー観点

1. 内容はPythonと関連しているか
2. ただやってみた系ではなく、独自や新規の知見があるか
3. 聴衆がそれぞれのPython使用シーンで活用できる知見があるか
4. Audienceが明確であり、それに向けた構成になっているか
5. 時間枠を十分に使った発表が明確にイメージできるか

• 観点には重みがあります。1番が最優先、2番が次に優先といった具合です
• レビュアーにとって初めて見る分野ということもありえます。プロポーザルでは初めて見る人にもわかりやすい説明を心がけていただけると助かります

Pythonに関する知見を共有したいというPython使いの皆さん、上記の観点を踏まえてプロポーザルを書いてみてください。
すでに提出した方も募集期間内であれば、 sessionize にて変更可能です。

また、トークプロポーザルを評価する外部レビュアーも募集します（現在準備中）。
プロポーザルを提出した方もレビューに参加できますので、よろしければどうぞ。

PyCon JP 2020 review perspectives of talk proposals

1. Is the content related to Python?
2. Is there originality or new knowledge in the content? (not just the content of "I tried to use something for trial")
3. Does the content have insights that the audience can use in their Python use cases?
4. Is the target audience of your talk clear? And your contents and structure are suitable for them?
5. Do you have a clear picture of a presentation that uses the time slot well?

• We weight the perspectives like item 1 is the top priority; item 2 is the second priority ...
• Some reviewers may not be familiar with the topic of your talk. It's better to explain your proposal in such a way that they can also understand it clearly.

If you want to share your knowledge about Python at PyCon JP 2020, we recommend to try to write your proposal based on the above perspectives.
You can update your proposal that has been already submitted at sessionize until the end date of application.
