Putting on the Ranty Pantys again.

EM did not say no to almost everything that happened in that room. The records are very clear about that. Which doesn't mean that what happened in that hotel room wasn't awful, but it wasn't a "no means no" event, and labeling it as such perpetrates all sorts of misinformation.

To give an idea of how complicated it can get? Kyle Beach actually orgasmed during his sexual assault. (And yes, it was STILL sexual assault.)

Trivializing all sexual assault down to "no means no" plants the wrong ideas about what a sexual assault can be; that if a person didn't say no (because they were too afraid to, or otherwise coerced into saying yes/going along with it, like Beach) it's not a sexual assault.

At any rate, my point stands -- chanting "no means no" for the purposes of getting into somebody's head is not an act of social justice. It trivializes the very real experiences of people like me, who screamed "no" and "please stop" and made it absolutely crystal clear that we did not want this to happen.
