Christmas Hymn

Praise to God whose love was shown

Who sent his Son to earth

Jesus left his rightful throne

Became a man by birth

The virgin's baby son

All creation praised Him

God incarnate come

Come to Bethlehem

Still a higher call had He

Deliverance from our sins

Come to set all people free

From Satan's hold within

For by the sin of man we fell

By the Son of God

He crushed the power of hell

Death we fear no more

Now we stand with strength, with power

The sons of God on earth

Faithful to the final hour

Christ's righteousness our worth

And now all praise is given

For the babe, the Son

The Savior King is risen

Christ is Lord indeed

For the babe, the Son

The Savior King is risen

Christ is Lord indeed

Merry Christmas Friends!!

Baking up some Christmas

Baked up one of my traditions yesterday afternoon.
Scottish Shortbread..
a favourite with my family.

Old fashioned goodness

And some little
Scottish Terriers
made with regular shortbread,
and some hearts
for some Christmas love.

 Of course, you know
I couldn't resist
baking up a few of our favourite
puppy dogs!
:)
My sweet sister Denise
gave me this adorable scottie cookie cutter
a few Christmas' ago
and I just love it!

Do you have a favourite?
Scottish shortbread,
regular shortbread
OR

The Real Scotties???
:)
This is my lovely daughter,
Cara,
with one of Bellas puppies from one of her litters.

I've got more baking to do,
but at least, I'm on my way...
Have you finished your Christmas baking yet?

Much love,
Deborah xoxoxoxo

Traditional Christmas Light Drive

Hello friends!
Its December 11th already,
and time for traditions.
Every December my hubby and I head up the hill to see the display of Christmas lights !
We grab a hot drink and gaze at all the lights..
and I take pictures.

Some are simple,
some are elaborate...
all are beautiful.

I adore white lights on Christmas trees...
it makes me think of purity.

These were blue but stunning!

Gorgeous array!

Every nook and cranny decorated.

 Dazzling..
Ever wonder why we are attracted to the beauty of light?

Coloured lights remind me of my childhood..
we always had coloured lights on our Christmas tree..

Candy canes aglow..

but the greatest light
is the heart thats filled with
the Light of the World....Jesus.

Light of the World...shine upon us.

O Christmas Tree...how lovely are thy branches

Another one of Decembers beautiful days!
Our plans for heading south to see our boys
changed due to weather conditions on the highway
that leads us there...
So...
to ease the sadness
we headed to the grocery store
to get some Christmas baking ingredients
and after that we
went to choose our tree!!!

Its always hard to pick which one...
but this time it wasn't....
The kind gentleman there showed us the one
and no other one could compare,
although they were all great trees!

The fragrance from those trees was intoxicating,
and the memories flooded back
from my childhood and Christmas as a child.
Don't you just love how even the scent of something can bring
back some long past sweet memory?

Even though our trip was cancelled,
the day was full and fun..
we have been enjoying playing backgammon together
and its a close race to the end every time,
and a shout of joy for the winner!
:)

Big gentle snowflakes were falling as I peeked
out of our bedroom window this morning ..
so pretty.
Theres nothing quite like a white Christmas
and I'm dreaming of one....

Our tree is decked in soft white lights
and white bells
with fabric ribbon that I tied to them from last year.
I also twisted  little tiny branches of white flower-like buds
around the branches of our spruce tree
for another gentle touch of white.
Homemade gingerbread hearts tied with jute
and hung on the branches
feels natural
and like home to me.
Christmas Eve will bring out white candy canes
to be hung on its branches

I completed it with a white duvet with an lacy eyelet edge
for a gentle tree skirt.

I hope you are savoring each day of December,
I am so enjoying visiting with you
and hearing and seeing  Christmas is in your homes and lives

Sitting in the light of the tree
and loving the smells, sights and sounds of Christmas
in my midst...

All my love,
Deborah xo

Sew excited and so grateful

Hi my sweet friends!!
No thats not a spelling error..I really am sew excited!

I treated myself to a new sewing machine..
very basic..thats all i wanted.
Its so clean and new!

I can't wait to try her out,
especially in this season.
I'm not sew (lol) much a clothing-maker,
but I love to make home decor and crafts.
I've got a few projects ready to start!
And an update on our other project..
our living room floor...

Our living room floor is completed
except for the baseboards and putting the furniture back in.
I am over-the-top thrilled with how it turned out!
Many, many thanks to Janean

Image

for all her advice & tips
for painting our wood floors white!
She is too kind and has such a beautiful spirit.
I'll show more clearer pictures when I get the room set up for Christmas!
The grates appear black..they are empty right now for the drying process..
I bought white ones, of course
:)

We're heading out to visit our boys this weekend!
Can't wait!!
Imagining myself wrapping my arms around them and never letting go!!!

Have a happy weekend friends!
