Blanketed in snow

My little shabby cottage rests in a blanket of winter white.
I have missed you all,
but I am waiting on my new computer after having my
computers hard drive gone.
I have this laptop, but have had a few issues here as well.
Looking forward to a New Year with you!
Blessings and a Happy New Year to all of you

Warm winter hugs!

Deborah xoxo

A little Reno and Christmas!

Image

It's November...
and we're doing some pre-Christmas renovations.

My hubby is putting a pine floor in our living room...
yes, you heard correctly.
We  (I)  decided to cover over the white painted wood floor.
Don't get me wrong, I still love white floors,
but to make a long story short..
just really love the look of pine floor and find it to be a bit more practical for our family.

Image

My hubby buys and cuts the pine boards to fit,
and does his work,
and then I condition the wood, then stain it and put the seal coats on top.
;)
As you can see ....the white paint that covered our old wooden,
smaller slat wood floor will be covered over.
I have chosen a sun-bleached grey stain, and I am excited about it.
It should bring a softness in here
to add to the white.
I  (finally) painted our French doors
an "antique white"
which is my favourite colour of paint for our walls.

Image

We'll finally get to actually see through the windows!
;)
(here..before the paint)

Image

The antique white brings such a creaminess...
I personally love it!
The top is the painted section...the bottom is just primer.

My oldest son took the trip down here
to bring us our brand new Ikea sofa!
They don't deliver here, so he rented a van and brought it here for us!
I know..what a sweetheart he is!
I can't even begin to tell you how sweet he is! ;)

Anyway the couch is still in the box..no sense taking it out
before the floor is completed.
Im hoping, praying, that we have this completed for Christmas.
In between work, play, and life....hope it is finished!
I cant wait to decorate gently for the holidays!

Image

The natural greens of winter with the creamy whites is breath taking...

Image

And then there's the tree-hunting!
Love it!

Image

Christmas tree decking...

Image

The baking...
love shortbread!

Image

Ok so I   a d o r e   Christmas!
How about you?
Are you preparing already?

All my heart,
Deborah xoxo

Winter white

The view from our bedroom window a few days ago....
winter's breath is upon us.
And I must say...its quite lovely.

Romantic Bedding

Image

A cozy place for two to curl up in...

the bedroom.

Image

A retreat for two...

Image

a spot that warms your heart and soul.

I changed our bedding to a soft quilt
that I purchased in the summer while on vacation ..
loving the softness.

Image

Pink roses and soft green and white

Image

A white bed~skirt lingering below it.
Beloved white.

Image

Soon this black bedroom set will be transformed...
Its new colour will be "Old White".

I'm waiting on some of Annie Sloan's chalk paint..
It's already ordered and I can't wait!

I've grown to love black and white together,
but white in here would be my preference.
I'll show you when it's in progress.

Image

A haven now...
but a soon~to~be haven in white

Image

I'm blessed that my hubby doesn't mind it being somewhat feminine in here..

Image

He's pretty easy-going that way.
;)

Image

A part of me will miss the black...
maybe I'll have to leave a few touches of it here and there.

Image

I love that faithful sweet shabby stool
cherishing some treasured books
and Mommas hydrangeas.

Image

And the pleasure of soft fresh pink roses
on bedside table
whispering that it's almost time to snuggle in for the evening.

Image

Still enjoying autumn's view...
but it snowed here today!

Until later friends...
keep cozy
xo

80 years ~A Celebration of the Heart

Image

Yeah!!!  It's my Momma's 80th birthday!!!

Image

We planned, we put our thoughts together,
we got busy, we created,
we phoned, we emailed, we shopped,
and some of us travelled over the miles
to celebrate Momma's birthday.

Image

Some of us schemed (in a good way) to make sure
it would be a  Surprise!
And it was!
My baby sister, Diana invited my Mom and Dad to supper..
and we all were waiting here..ready!

Image

My neice Karly and my son Adam were the MC's
for the evening,
and were hamming it up for the photos (of course)
;)

Image

Relatives visited and laughed together.
It's so good to bring family together.
The room we had was situated on the waterfront
and was very beautiful!

Image

We played games and won prizes.
This is my twin brother David (just kidding).
I say that sometimes..we're only 2 years apart
and we're close like twins ;)

Image

This is my baby brother, Doug.
We're only 17 months apart,
and no matter what he says,
he'll always be Dougie to me!!!
He's worked hard for many years,
always many miles away, but is now retired
and ~home~
Hope to see his sweet face more often!
:)

Image

The theme for the party was Casino.
Our Momma loves going to the casino.
My creative sister , Denise
put together all the decorations
and took care of the cake.
Amazing job!
Momma loved it, right down to the last detail!

Image

A lot of work went into that cake and those table decorations!

Image

 Even the napkins were casino-related.
Isn't she a sweetheart?!
She's my nieces daughter Chloe,
and Denise and Max's grand~daughter.
She calls my sister Mia instead of grandma, and calls her grandpa Grumpy.
(He's not grumpy though...he's a sweetie too)
Too cute!

Image

Joy was all over this little one,
and a few others, I might add,
as we sang Happy Birthday to Momma!

Image

Our evening was filled with the young
and "young at heart".

Image

I'd have to say that the game
that brought the most fun and laughter
was giving my mom
some homemade scratch and play cards,
which Denise had creatively put together.
Momma would scratch a spot on the card
and she would either win a prize or have to tell a story.
Either way, she won a prize :),
but the stories she would have to tell were  written on cards
that began with a phrase with which she would
finish the rest of the story that it related to.
She had to tell it in less than a few minutes,
(which we knew would be hard for Mom since she is such a "detail" person) Lol
Oh how she laughed and we laughed
when she'd tell these stories of our lives together.
Funny moments that have happened over the years!

Image

A super fun evening!

Image

You just had to be there!

Happy Birthday Momma!
We all adore you xo

Thanksgiving~a way of life

Image

Thanksgiving...
brought me to the cottage last weekend.
The journey itself was breath-taking
and full of thanks-giving.

Image

My cars sun roof was covered with maple leaves.

Image

The side cabins were blanketed in colour
and crisp beauty

Image

Cottage living is always a warm welcome...
no matter the season

Image

With summer apparently still deciding to linger
;)

Image

A painting with every glance
here at the cottage

Image

Every step...
the glory of autumn

Image

A few quiet, heart~warming days
with loved ones
by the hearth.

~

Giving thanks to Him
for the hearth of warm and cozy friendships
here with you!

All my heart,
Deborah xoxo
