There’s so much outrageously good pizza in San Francisco right now. Take Jules, where chef and baker Max Blachman-Gentile, who grew up in the Bay Area, dove deep into pizza dough at Roberta’s in Brooklyn and bounced back to lead the sourdough team at Tartine in San Francisco. He started popping up in 2023, debuting his own personal style of sourdough crust with seasonal toppings, before opening a permanent location in the Lower Haight this spring, where the pizza party is officially on. Jules is named after his grandmother, and there are retro touches with wood paneling and the occasional vintage lamp from Pizza Hut. The Lower Haight is a fun neighborhood for barhopping if you want to keep the night going after your pizza dinner.

Max Blachman-Gentile is a wonderful person, always smiling when you see him at the farmers market. With his use of seasonal ingredients for his toppings, I dream about his pizza. It’s so good.

A gourmet pizza with cherry tomatoes and pesto dollops

Field Dream Pizza

A lovely summertime special, this pie rocks Sungold tomatoes and sweet corn from the farmers market, in pretty hues of sunny yellow.

Marone Pizza

The cheese pizza is anything but plain, hitting the right ratio of marinara to cheese, showered with a trio of fresh mozzarella, Pecorino Toscano, and Parmesan.

Pull-Apart Buns

Your order isn’t complete without pull-apart buns, baked side by side so they puff up round, ready to tear and smear with Parm-rind cultured butter and uni.
