Those Tumblr links

Well the Tumblr situation seems to have largely stabilised although it's not in a happy place.  I've randomly checked a few of the old links in my former blogroll and many have simply vanished.  A few have survived with some of the images removed. A couple of the more vanilla ones seem to be unscathed.  Over this coming weekend I'll trawl through them all - the survivors will move to the new blogroll and then the old blogroll will be deleted for ever. Sad.

What's going on?

Sunday 16th update

So now I have two blogrolls.

The NEW blogroll contains blogs not hosted on Tumblr including those that have migrated from Tumblr to elsewhere (plus just a couple on Tumblr that might escape the new regime).  Blogs on the NEW blogroll are generally being removed from my old blogroll, so the old one (below the NEW one) is for those that appear to still be on Tumblr with the deadline for removal of NSFW content just about upon us.  Quite a few old Tumblr blogs have already been deleted by their owners and I've tried to remove those from the old blogroll. I'm not sure what happens next.

Some people have posted on their Tumblr sites the address for their new home - after the 17th I don't know if Tumblr will allow that (since it points to NSFW content) - if not then everything in my old blogroll will effectively become empty or boring.  I've left them for now in the hope that they do find a new home and can point the way to it.

The NEW blogroll is listed alphabetically.  The most popular destination for many Tumblr refugees seems to be BDSMLR and currently that doesn't seem to provide an RSS feed to show updates.  I didn't want all the BDSMLR sites to end up down the bottom of the list just because we won't know when they've updated but I am showing the date of last update where it is known.  If BDSMLR switches on an RSS feed at some time I'll revert to a chronological listing then.

Also, I've started a list of Twitter sites.  It's early days - most of the twits I follow on there haven't even been added as yet but I'll get there - it's all just taking a lot of time.

Video of the year 2018

While we still have a site we can blog on, I thought I should give you my choice for video of the year.  Last year I couldn't find a really stand-out one to give this nomination to but I recently came across this example and knew immediately it would be my choice this time around.

There are, of course, hundreds of video clips out there of "fun" spankings.  Many of the people involved probably have no fetish interests at all or none that they're aware of - maybe some of them will go on to develop a fetish interest later.  The largest number are probably birthday related  and then there's ones in various pubs (mainly Hofbräuhaus) or eating establishments (mainly Heart Attack Grill).  There are the ones relating to a dubious Czech Easter tradition, a few that are rather hard to fathom and there are ones that appear to be dares of some kind.

I think this one fits the latter category.  An attractive young lady appears to agree to take a paddle swat as some sort of dare in return for a ticket for something.  Quite a few "fun spanking" videos are rather gentle which isn't really that much fun for the viewer. When they're not - and quite often with ones at birthdays where several people are giving a whack each, it's only a matter of time before someone gives a really serious hard whack - the recipient seems surprised and unhappy to discover that spankings hurt.  This girl takes a pretty hard swat and seems to process it really well.  And then she takes another...

Tumblr R.I.P.

Heaven knows I've not been the greatest fan of Tumblr and the Tumblr community because it seems to foster mindless reblogging without creativity or thoughtful content.  Nevertheless, I regret their decision to block all "adult" content.  Google tried the same thing with Blogger a while back but quickly backed down because so many people argued how important it was for them to be able to express their identity.  I doubt that Tumblr will back down because, as I've said, it doesn't really have the same thoughtful content that many Blogger sites promote.  I hope that the Tumblr users don't all transfer to Blogger unless they're ready to embrace the different ethos.  However I hope they do find a new home somewhere.  Over the next few weeks my Blogroll seems likely to get considerably shorter.

Favourite for December

Obviously not the highest quality of images and just in B&W but I really like this picture for it's understatement.  The teacher is clearly lecturing the two miscreants at some length.  The longer it goes on, the more apprehensive they must be getting as it seems ever more serious.  Maybe he'll get one or both of them to start crying before he even punishes them.  It's probably no coincidence that their hands are resting on their bottoms as the realisation grows that they're both going to have those bottoms warmed up considerably in a few moments time.  A totally believable scene that probably happened hundreds of times in schools.

At this time of year I like to also feature a favourite video of the year - last year I couldn't decide on one that seemed appropriate but I've got a corker lined up this time around - coming up in a few days time...!

Does this get any reaction?

Regular visitors to this blog will know that I am mainly interested in scenes with female subs so this is a bit out on a limb.

However, given the reputation that Catholic schools (and especially the Christian Brothers) had in the UK, Ireland and elsewhere, I'd like to bet there are some people who are going to be squirming a little bit at this picture which probably brings back some very unhappy memories for some guys of a certain age.  There's a tremendous tension in the scene.

Not sure where it originates from but I'm guessing a  movie - any ideas?

Love Our Lurkers Day 2018

For the thirteenth time, it's Love Our Lurkers day - and as is now the custom it last for two days to accommodate time zone differences!  The  tradition was started by Bonnie - if you are one of the hundreds who read blogs like mine and never dare to comment, this is your chance.  I know from the stats that many more people check by than ever comment - those that do (primarily Old Tom and Targetarear) are always welcome but actually if it wasn't for all the other visitors who never comment I'd have given up long ago.  Stay anonymous by all means but it would be lovely if you just said Hi!

Favourite for November

This is, you probably never realised, an auspicious post.  This is my 100th favourite for the month.  As such the choice of image was quite important and I've decided to go back to a photo story from Janus 62 that I've featured before.

Actually I featured one image as a favourite and then shortly afterwards posted all the images from that particular story in low-res. It was, to me, one of the most credible school canings ever in Janus and the girl was fantastic.  Possibly my only problem with it was that she looked so sweet and innocent that I couldn't really believe she would have exhibited behaviour bad enough to warrant the caning she got.   Her immediate reactions were excellent and even the way she practically ran out of the office when told to leave looked brilliant.  So, for one more time, here is Marjorie Jenkins.

A Little Knowledge

I read a piece on the web recently where a pro-domme was talking about her work.  She was asked if she'd ever been on the receiving end of the type of punishments she routinely gives.  She said she had not and didn't feel it necessary - part of her argument was that a brain surgeon does not need to have had his own brain operated on in order to do his job.  My first reaction was that it's a pretty silly thing to say and that it's not, in any sense, a useful analogy.  Many pro-dommes have been active as subs at one time or another - I could name several.  Even some domes who were never really active in the scene as subs have had some experience, for example if you look at the material on the web produced by the redoubtable and slightly scary Cassie Hunter (Cassie Canes, Montrose Academy etc.) you would form the impression that she is 100% domme and it's hard to imagine her ever being a sub.  However, if you explore far enough, you can find (try FullForce Spanking...) three rare clips of Cassie being punished.  Admittedly these are all just OTK spanking scenes and mostly only using a hand (although she does get a gymshoe across her shorts in one scene) and are well short of the severity of the thrashings she administers to males with straps and canes in the main body of her work.  Clearly there are also some on the scene who switch, so they may get regular reminders of what it feels like.

So the first question is, does it enable a domme to do their job better if they've experienced - or do experience - what the physical and emotional effects are on the receiving end?  Given that I am more concerned with writing CP fiction I guess the same question can be applied to CP authors - should they have first hand experience of giving and/or receiving?  I think the answer is probably yes in both cases.  There are so many stories on the web that are supposedly factual reminiscences - quite often there are aspects of those which trigger doubts for someone who's had personal experience as they stray more into fantasy.  It follows that when writing fiction it is easier to gain authenticity when you have first hand experience.

Favourite for October

I may have a strong preference for school punishment scenes to be with the subject being punished while normally clothed, I don't have the same issues with domestic scenarios.

In this case I imagine the young lady has been taking advantage of her parents being away on a business trip and thinking her grandad will be a pushover.  However, he's now caught her coming back in the early morning after overnighting at a party held at her boyfriend's house.  Given her manner of dress he's not having much difficulty guessing what she's been up to and threatens to tell her parents.  She knows he's not joking and how disastrous that would be. When he offers to keep quiet provided there is no more bad behaviour while they're away she is very relieved and thinks she's got around the old fool.  However he's then added there have to be consequences so she'll be punished in the same way he would have punished her mother if she'd every done anything like it.  Before she has time to argue her way out of it, her panties are coming down and she realises that she's in for an old fashioned spanking.  How humiliating!  She just has to hope he won't hit her very hard...

I can resist anything except...

...temptation.

Actually, I have a nagging concern that she may be more dom than sub but sometimes you just have to take your chances - if the dice don't fall the way you'd prefer, well you just have to take the consequences I suppose.

Unlucky thirteen (Movie Bloopers)

The people making spanko movies don't work to high profit margins so they need to get things right first time.  Often scenes are shot in a single take.  A few are quite good at giving girls a break on request and then checking the continuity to make it appear seamless in the end result (Northern Spanking for example.)  However, many want to make a virtue of the viewer watching the subjects' bottoms turn from pale creamy colour, to a pink blush and then to crimson red (and in some cases, beyond).  If, after shooting it, you notice something got in the way you can't wait for the girl's bottoms to return to original colour and start again.  Consequently, quite a few scenes that would become outtakes in conventional movies get to stay in.  Here are some examples...

1.  Often, as here, the problem is using one fixed camera and one moving camera and in the excitement of it all, the moving camera moves into shot.  If the shot you need at that point comes from the fixed camera, you just have to include it and hope nobody notices (or cares).

2.  Same again with this one.

3.  This second camera seems totally carried away - not only has he allowed his camera to wander in to the main shot, it looks as if he's about to join in.

4.  This time the second camera has just managed to keep out of shot, but not out of line of the bright studio lighting, casting a shadow on the wall alongside him.

5.  Similar to the last one; you have to think that sitting in front of the head getting a telling off and knowing you're probably going to get paddled very soon is bad enough without having a large camera lens moving in on your bottom as well.

6.  If I'd just seen this as a still, I'd assume it was one of those "behind the scenes" shots that studios sometimes put out. But no, the guy who appears to be rather distractedly checking his still camera was in the final film.

7.  Back to the same film as in (1) above.  You can make excuses where the second cameraman is on the wander, but really you do need to make sure your lighting rig isn't visible for your main static camera...

 8.  Because everyone just happens to keep a tripod and microphone in their living room...

9.  I don't know if the sudden and unexpected reaction of the model to her pain was a factor, but someone appears very keen to get up close and personal with the microphone here.

10.  Someone just didn't quite get out of shot in time.

11.  Sometimes what seemed like a good hiding place is just not quite good enough.  Unless that's a naughty schoolboy who's sneaked into the girl's gym to see what he can see and who's got more than he bargained for.  Couldn't really blame him because it's a great little scene and well worth the risk of getting caught!

12. Rather unusually in this scene, it doesn't appear that the 'extra' is just getting carried away with what he's seeing and forgetting to keep off-camera.  In fact, he doesn't seem too aware of what's happening at all...

13.  And finally someone who really is engrossed.  As a result he's as clear as any of the actors taking part and just as identifiable.  Hope he hadn't ticked the box requesting anonymity...

Very frustratingly, I have seen what I have think was one of the greatest ever spanko bloopers, but can't find it now.  I'm pretty sure the model was the lovely Catherine Corbet and it was probably from Spanking Online or another one of the Xerotics labels.  She was bent over being punished on her lovely bottom when a mouse ran across the floor.  Where did that clip go?

There are millions of pictures on the Internet of ordinary girls flashing their tits or mooning for the camera.  This one just instantly made me imagine a scenario where a couple of Brit girls were having a wild time on holiday somewhere exotic and, probably a bit intoxicated, decided to moon for their friend to photograph.  Unfortunately, they were unaware of strict local laws about nudity in public places - an offence punishable by caning...

And while I'm being grumpy...

Why do people edit out the name of people and companies producing spanko images and thus deny them advertising?  Most bloggers freely use images that someone else has paid money and spent their time to produce, and in many cases the subject of the image has also endured some discomfort in that production.  If I use an image taken directly from a producer I try to ensure I only use images that they have given away for free as a sample of their work - that doesn't seem unreasonable as it may drive viewers to look at their site and very occasionally may actually generate income for them.  Of course, if they were to request me to remove one of their images I would still do so (although I've never had such a request yet).  If I use an image which doesn't have the name of the producer on it but I know who the producer is, I try to give credit.  But what do people gain from taking an image bearing the producers name and edit it to try to remove that name?  It doesn't mean you're not infringing their copyright - just depriving them of recognition for the work that went into producing it.  The only time I ever edit out a name on an image is when I know someone is claiming credit for someone else's work - perhaps after cropping the image to hide the name of the actual producer.

Some cases of name editing are also, spectacularly bad!

An attempt to crop out the name but didn't quite managed to remove the top of the capital S from Dreams of Spanking - and even without that error, the face and bottom are fairly easy to identify (perhaps it's the bottom that needs cropping rather than the image...).

Another great image - I wonder where it came from?  Oh look, bottom right corner - looks as if it's from Punished Brats again!

It's not surprising that some producers have taken to putting their credits right across the middle of the image but it's a shame we have to see it spoiled like that.

Tumblr moans

Clearly the majority of blogs I have links for are on Tumblr.  There are also some on Wordpress and some here on Blogger and a small number privately hosted.  I tried Wordpress and found it hard to manage.  Tumblr, 'though, really annoys me.

First most "spanking" blogs have a huge proportion of non-spanking related material.  I notice that Secret Spanko has just returned to blogger for just that reason.  (Note that although I do post mainly on spanking and and many links are for spankings sites, I don't actually title my site as a spanking blog and I do feature some links to BDSM, candid nudity etc).

Second, it seems technically flawed.  Roughly speaking when I click on the blog name in my Blogroll, about a quarter of the time it tells me the blog isn't available right now (not just that it might contain sensitive material - I've got the hang of that one by logging myself into Tumblr first and keeping that open in a separate tab) but if I click on the name of the most recent post it opens perfectly fine and if they've set up an archive option that works fine as well.  So it is available - just unfriendly.

Most of all 'though I dislike to culture that promotes reblogging things all the time.  If you've ever checked out the links in my Blogroll you'll know that there's quite a lot and I do spend some time (too much) browsing them.  If I scan through two or three posts and then spot something that looks familiar I tend to assume I've already seen blogposts on that site prior to that date.  But in fact, the frantic reblogging of anything good often means I then see that same image on several more sites and therefore I don't know if I might have missed something. One day last week I saw three posts on one site and the next blog I looked at had the same three posts in the same order. Of course a lot of the material I post has been on other blogs, but usually it's from some time ago and I think people might not have seen it if they haven't been around for long or they might just like reminding.  Or I repackage it around a particular theme.  I think just filling a blog with the images you've just seen someone else post is causing the blogging community (and in this case specifically, the spanko blogging community) to become very bloated.

Am I just becoming grumpy in my old age?

Favourite for July

Not the sexiest spanking by a long way but very believable.  I love the way she's trying to bend away from the smack she's about to get as if that will somehow make it sting less.  It looks as if he's going to have a bit of a battle on his hands and that long clingy dress is going to be difficult to deal with if he's planning on putting her over his knee for a much deserved spanking.  It will be important to make the punishment harder and longer as a result so that he can stress to her that such clothing is not acceptable in the future.

Favourite for June

It's always encouraging to see the vast number of images out on the web of birthday spankings and the like - it's great that so many vanilla girls get a taste of spanking which they might otherwise forgo given the direction of modern parenting.  You have to just hope that a few of them (well actually, I'd prefer it to be a lot of them or even all of them!) get a taste for it and want to carry on with spanking and being spanked in their adult years.

Of course a lot of them seem to start out thinking it's all a huge laugh and then discover that spankings are meant to hurt.  I suspect this image, dating from an earlier era, might well fall into that category.  An attractive young woman laughing for the camera and adopting an appropriate pose, but within a few moments of this image she may have discovered how much a wooden paddle can sting.

Favourite for May

I do appreciate that many readers of this blog want to see bare bottoms but I know I'm not alone in enjoying more realistic scenes as well.  This scene must have happened so many times in schools in Scotland, parts of the Midlands, and North East England in particular.  Love some of the attention to detail such as the way the girl is slightly hunched as if bracing herself for what she knows is going to be a very painful experience in a few short moments.  Perhaps she's been told off during class and then told to stay back at the end so she's had a lot of time to think about what was to come.  Alternatively, perhaps the rest of her class are sat behind her watching - glad it's not them this time.

Regretting modern times

I'm sure that quite a number of readers of this blog would feel, as I do, that British schools in the 1950's and 1960's would have been far better placed to deal appropriately with this kind of classroom misbehaviour than they are today.

Nicely placed!

Some phrases that get used in the CP world rather irritate me - for example when someone is described as having a "naughty bottom" (I rather doubt that the bottom is what has been naughty although it may well be the appropriate target for someone to deal with the naughty behaviour).

However, this one I really like and I've never come across it before.

I have little doubt that Frances and Mary fully deserve (at least) two 'licks' apiece but I really like the expression of them being 'nicely placed' - presumably that being squarely across the seat of their panties.

I came across the image completely out of context - if anyone can shed any light on the origin and the backstory I would be very grateful.

Favourite for April

(I thought this was appropriate since I'm slightly 'late' publishing it!)

I imagine what's happened here is a boyfriend/girlfriend fooling about in a deserted churchyard, he smacks her bottom a few times and, for a laugh, she decides to show off the resulting red marks for the camera.  To me this is a grave offence (groan!) - if I was the church warden I'd treat such disrespect by making her stay bent over the headstone for six of the best so she'd have some longer lasting marks to remember the occasion by.

Childhood memories

I had a very brief opportunity yesterday to look at a book with people sharing memories of their childhood - managed to get a quick copy of this page with my iPhone.

Memories

Just came across this cutting from 1974 and I'm sorry to say that I can remember getting very excited following the story in the newspapers at the time.

The case came to court because the Sunday People published a story about how lieutenant-colonel John Brooks had lured the 19-year-old Manchester University student on to his boat for a trip up the river and then forced her to strip before he spanked her about thirty times before telling her to rub some whisky on her bottom to take away the sting (never tried that, but it seems likely to me that he just wanted to rub her bottom for a bit longer).

The story was substantially correct, except it turned out that he often hired young ladies for this particular pastime and it had been made very clear to her beforehand what she was getting paid to do. The newspaper lost the defamation case, and the colonel was awarded a rather derisory  ½ penny in damages (although the newspaper had to bear the court costs).

What subsequently happened to Miss Carr never seemed to be reported - presumably she had the embarrassment of her friends and family reading that she'd allowed a stranger to strip her naked and spank her bottom, but then she would have expected that when she took her story to the newspaper.  I tend to the view that the editor of the newspaper should, perhaps, have also given her a thorough spanking for misleading him about the original circumstances.

I think I might move to Malaysia - the corner shops have much more interesting products for sale...

And with prices equivalent to around £5.50 or less, they look like bargains as well.  They seem to need to stock a lot of them.

Age Verification

In the UK the government has passed legislation requiring those who wish to access legal pornography online to have to go through an age verification process.  Originally planned to come into operation this April it has now been postponed until the end of the year.  The UK is the only democratic country to attempt to enforce such a regulation and so far it seems to offer huge financial rewards for one of the biggest pornography empires in the world and run the risk of extremely sensitive private information falling into the wrong hands.  It doesn't appear to recognise that, by using VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), people in the UK can log into porn sites from elsewhere in the world and the whole thing seems to have been dreamt up by people with very little understanding of technology or pornography.  The video below is taken from the blog of Pandora Blake who campaigns on these issues and is published here under the "Fair Use" doctrine.

Favourite for March

I don't think the Punished Brats site always gets the recognition it deserves and I love this classic photoshoot.  My usual comments about preferring to see clothed punishments in a school setting certainly don't apply to a domestic scene and this one is an absolute gem.  The girl is clearly getting a very good seeing to, and her bottom and thighs are going to be bright red and really stinging when he's finished with her.  She's sure learning a valuable lesson here - from checking out their website it appears that she and her sister were throwing eggs at cars and they'll both be feeling the back of a hairbrush as well before the lesson is over.

This should be something they'll both remember for a very long time.

This is a two part story from Punished Brats - in the first part both get hand spankings and then in the second half it progresses to the hairbrush.  There are 40 seconds long excerpts from each video free to download and they really look excellent.  The one thing I wish was different would be to not have the tattoos on the legs of the one girl.  I really wish the particular craze for young girls getting tattooed had never started.  Nevertheless, this storyline alone might be reason enough for some people to consider a subscription.
